[SPOILERS-PBEM15] TT's Terrific Tale of Terrible Tactics - Huayna Capac of Mali

Turn Two

Nothing really happened. Warrior still a turn away from finding anything that hasn't really already been seen or worked out by tile bleeding.

Anyway, that is not the answer either.

If you look at my previous naming schemes, you will find all the clues you need.

Ok, well then it's dancing cricket players.

Nearly there novice! As you are so close I shall have to reduce the prize down to a single cookie now!

Turns are moving but there is still nothing much to report or show yet. Once I have some interesting things to show you I shall put them up!

Righteo - here's a picture of the land which has been uncovered so far.

I think I've found a very good Moai city, with extra hammers from that desert hill mine.

Just finished researching Agriculture btw, so worker will be straight onto the rice when completed.

Well that was quick!

Ioan's warrior appeared on the desert hill across the water from my Maoi city last turn. Looks like we could be on some kind of Islands map which could be fun. It definitely seems like we all have either an island or peninsula to ourselves but there may well be a land bridge I haven't uncovered yet.

Anyway, as Ioan hadn't sent me a welcome message, I sent this:

Quote:Good day Ioan!

I must say I was surprised to see your warrior so early on in this game, but pleasantly so at least!

I have found this land very interesting and I would be happy to share screenshots with you to further both of our understanding!

Also, as you are my Industrious brother, would you be interested in discussing wonder co-ordination so that we do not end up needlessly competing when we could be friends?

I eagerly anticipate your reply, and good luck with your turns until then!

TT

Tbh, if he is a reliable replier then he is probably the best person for me to meet first as we can hopefully coordinate our wonders early and perhaps avoid a serious Oracle race.

Will post his reply if I get it.

In other news - I have my worker out and working on the rice & Pottery completed at the end of turn. No religions have fallen yet so I may go Mysticism next and see what occurs. Will need to go for Oracle straight after Bronze Working so best see if I can get a religion out of it while I'm at it!

Looks like Ioan is not too bad at replying so things are moving quite well in terms of starting a conversation.

Here is his reply to my message:

Quote:Hi TT !

Glad to see & meet you - even from the hill over the sea. smile
I'll take a picture of my ( explored ) area this evening my time - should be ~3-4 hrs from now.

From Wonder point-of-view ... probably here will be a conflict, because I'm aimed for an Oracle-race. What's your priority in this area ?

Best regards,

Ioan the Young

Glad to see he's open to the screenshot exchange, it will be interesting to see just how different our starts are and perhaps (if he is not careful) reveal some things that could be useful (such as his research & build).

Unsurprisingly he is after the Oracle as well, but I shall make an attempt to see if I can sway him away from it so I don't have to fear such a fast race to it.

Here is the message I have sent to him:

Quote:Hey Ioan!

Ok I shall send over my screenshot as soon as I get the save again! Will be interesting just to see how 'unmirrored' this map really is!

I had a guess you may be after an Oracle push, hence why I mentioned it so early. As you may have guessed given my combo, I too am heading for the Oracle at full speed. I am directly heading towards it now, so it will be a fast race for both of us so I wanted to gauge if there is anything I can 'bribe' you with to leave it to me?

I am prepared to listen to whatever you would like to propose - perhaps I can trade you a worker & some skirmishers for early defence or a guarantee not to pursue other highly desirable wonders that we will no doubt both be coveting!

I would like to work closely with you and try and build a strong early partnership so if there is anything you can think of which may sway you to avoid the Oracle then I would be happy to listen. Alas, if you cannot then please be frank with me. I am happy to race you with no hard feelings should you win, as long as we both know where we stand.

Nothing much interesting happening in turns just yet.

On the diplo side, Ioan has sent me a map of his discovered land for an exchange. I am glad I waited for him to send his to me first as his is heavily censored and designed to simply appearing to be helpful without actually being so.

Here is what I received:

Barely worth the effort really.

I was initially going to be completely friendly & let him have my bfc & resource indicators. However, given this I have decided to send this map instead

Indeed I did, plus a grassland rice on the W coast!

In the end it wasn't really worth the bothering as he ended up sending a full map afterwards - as he wanted to ensure there was no land connection first.

He is still after the Oracle, and after seeing his capital I know he really doesn't want to concede it to me with all my lovely floodplains.

I have made him an offer of a 1:1 hammer exchange of 2 Workers & a Workboat for me to let him have the Oracle. I could do with it and as his capital is coastal, he could provide me a workboat for my capital earlier than I could get it out!

I think its a pretty fair deal given he gets a free tech too - but we shall see how it goes down soon I hope!

Right guys & dolls - a quick update for you all!

I managed to land Buddhism (diverted to Meditation before BW given it hadn't fallen - gonna have to research it anyway for Oracle push)

I have 2 workers & will have 2 Floodplain cottages built & worked by next turn - hopefully that will give me a handy research boost.

Also met a scout from JKaen near my borders - looks like I may not be on a personal island after all!

Will send off a greeting in a bit
