Another alternative to Agriculture first (not sure which plan would work better) is to go for Bronze Working first, then using the first worker to quickly chop out a second worker. The drawback is that with Expansive India on a plains hill, your worker may have to sit and wait for 3 turns for BW to come in before he could chop.

That was my plan before seeing the map, but I'm worried about the opportunity cost of leaving the grains unfarmed.

I'm happy with Agg->BW->AH and settling 1N. The warrior can either go NW, or probably better on the plains hill to see what else is in the BFC.

Very rudimentary sandbox is here.
Sim 1: Settle on plains hill, research BW->Agri->Wheel->Pottery
Build three workers, grow in three while building warrior (working farmed corn), build settler at size 2.
T24: Three workers (for a while) and settler out. Pottery due T28.

Sim 2: Settle on plains hill, research agriculture->bw->the wheel->pottery
Build a worker, start a second worker, farm corn, grow to size 2 on a warrior when corn is farmed, continue worker, farm rice, grow to size 3 on farmed corn and rice while completing warrior, complete 2nd worker, chop 3rd worker, chop settler.
Also gives us three workers and a settler by T24, but we're size 3 and we're one turn closer to Pottery.
I revolted to slavery in both sims but didn't use it for anything, so they can be sped up 1 turn by delaying that.
It seems to me that settling on the plains hill and researching Agriculture is the way to go, then. One caveat with moving to the plains hill is that we might end up with a capital with no hills.

Darrell did not settle on T0. I moved the warrior onto the plains hill:
Long-term I feel that the current location is stronger than the plains hill.
Also, are these flood plains? Or coast maybe?
Thoughts?

I agree long-term the lack of production from settling on the plains hill is concerning, and so we should probably settle in place. In place still gives us a potential production, commerce and food monster despite the lack of an extra hammer in the first few turns, so let's stick rather than twist.

Sim 3: Settle in place. We get three workers, revolt to slavery and a settler by T25. So a one turn delay compared to moving to the plains hill. But I'd say we get a better city long term, even if we have one less hammer from the city centre. We also leave room for a northern city that can share both the corn and the rice, to better use all our food under our low happy cap.
