[SPOILERS] Werewolf 3 Lurker Thread

Mardoc Wrote:One thing that confused me - why didn't you go for Ichabod or Roland after they were proved innocent? Was it just fear of them being warded?

Extra days are too valuable to the village. One more failed kill would've gotten an extra day, and I think we would've lost in that scenario. This game only becomes marginally winnable for the wolves if they continue to drive down the villager numbers.

That is why I think masons could reveal on Day 1. Would wolves really take the 50/50 shot to eliminate one?

MJW (ya that one) Wrote:GES if you read the thread twice per day and had nothing to hide you would post more. There would be something to say if you were a villager. All the power roles were dead so you had to be a werewolf.

You would've came to the right conclusion about my wolf status, but I think your contention is mostly incorrect. I barely had time to post as much as I did. If I had any extra time, it would've only been because I didn't spend time on out of thread communication with the wolves. I still likely would've only posted a couple times per day.

The couple days where I did post more extensively were Saturdays, unsurprisingly.

It's interesting how much I accomplished just by the threat of a save, then. As I was playing, I pretty much considered any night I failed a save as a waste, but that turns out not to be the case - as long as I was alive and unknown, I was influencing you. Plus, of course, it would have helped to have Ichabod as a confirmed villager if you hadn't already been on the threshold of victory.

And if I'd hidden better, then maybe I'd have gotten another save, too! Good to know smile.

It does not take much time to post. If you read the whole thread and want to help you will take the extra 10% and post. You felt tired as a wolf and did not want to post in order to not get busted.

I was not at fault for the power-roles being outed. That was Lewwyn's and then Sunrises fault. I finished-off sandover with my role-pm ploy. (Selrec mayor switch). This saved a villager and a seer scry. I also made Scooter and Serdoa make posts that innocents would never make just after my death. They should have been auto-lyched. Instead Roland got easily sidetracked and misdirected to Ug and then Lewwyn selfishly screwed over the village in order to not get night-killed.

What did Mardoc do? Save a villager that would not get mis-lyched and did not give the town an extra lych. He did not help in getting a wolf kill ether. Just before the end and just before the baner gets powerful he outed himself to.

Because all posts are by necessity helpful?

There was a lot of content the first few days. A decent player who is a villager would believe he had something useful to say.

Had not been following this game closely (or much at all, really). Just read the final write up...ouch. Out of 8 lynchings, the villagers got only 1 werewolf on day 2. yikes 87.5% lynchings of villagers...random chance would do better, especially as the villagers numbers fell.

Was this good play by the wolves, poor play by the villagers, the effects of no PMs being allowed to most of the villagers, something else?

The results are somewhat misleading. The wolves could easily have lost, they just had the necessary margins on their side in some key situations. As has been pointed out, the wolves cannot afford a single mistake, and can still lose to bad luck. So I think the balance in this game was about right.

The thing is, the wolves need to play an excellent game (which they did) not to be lynched by elimination in the endgame.
I have to run.

Nah. I think 90% of everything in the thread could easily have been jettisoned and the amount of useful information would have stayed about the same. Lot of repetition. Lot of butting of heads.

If someone doesn't want to contribute to that, it doesn't make them a bad villager. Quiet doesn't necessarily mean wolf.

Exactly. I don't feel a need to prattle if there is nothing useful to discuss. That wouldn't have changed if I was a villager.

It would've only changed if I had significantly more time. Like today.

Welcome to the club!

Also first village loss is when I wasn't playing, clearly my lack of posting contributed heavily to the previous games successes for the villagers
