Jkaen Wrote:The game was very good, no real complaints at all, and I think the roleplay certainly did help.

One question I was wondering about is the sequence events are played out at night. Since our seer went so early, it didnt matter, but what happens if:

Baner protects Seer
Seer scries somebody (doesnt matter)
Void wolf targets Seer
WW kill Baner

Pretty sure baner dies and the seer scry fails.

  1. Where were the minor hiccups in running the game?
  2. What went horribly wrong with running the game?
Addtionally, what did people think of the no-PM format, the roleplaying bits, and the no-editing rules?

Absolutly everything went right. You did a marvellous job thumbsup. For the 'hiccups' (Cull & Bruindane) you could little do.

I think this game showed that it needs the no-pm-rule to ´give the wolves at least abit of a chance. Even in this game they would have lost had day5 gotten the scooter-lynch.(4 voters for the voidwolf + ichabod & Roland would allow to kill all other villagers and still catch the all wolves).

The role-playing that was done was great too.

I think the no-editing rule is good. At least in the way it was handled. Other wise it might come to many: He you posted xy first and now changed it' . infights. Imagine I had edited my Ichabod-post lol

Mardoc Wrote:Well, I guess there was one detail - however Rowain got confused about the Baner save should be reworded.

It was not the spelling it was the color. This blue is awfullly hard to read so I only saw the words ichabod and Baner. That it was blue instead of red did not register at the time. (and yes I had a tiring day and didn't pay the attention I should have.)

Bobchillingworth Wrote:For a future game I'd like to play with everyone being required to create a pseudonym account, probably based on whatever their assigned role is. It would mean that, at least in theory, players will be eliminated solely on the basis of suspicion / tactical considerations, rather than meta-gamey past game experiences.
I think several people will be easily to identify but it would at last give the first day a spin (no all vote for MJW-day)

Bobchillingworth Wrote:No posts allowed during the Night period would also be nice. Gives everyone a break from the thread or time to catch up, and the village is supposed to be sleeping anyway tongue
Thats an idea I fully support. It reduces the clatter and might prevent some burn-out.

Bobchillingworth Wrote:One final thing- while I'm interested in playing in another one of these, I think it would be best if the next game doesn't start for at least a couple weeks, so that everyone gets a bit of a break from WWing.

A bit of a break to smooth ruffled feathers wink

Actually, there were 18 villagers and 5 wolves; 17/4 if you subtract those who were mod-killed.

Like Meiz said, in the first post of the game thread, there's a spoilered section with "Turn Resolutions". You can use those links to navigate the thread.

Here's a reasonably objective summary of the game:
  • Day 1: MJW (villager) was lynched; there was a late swing towards Cull (villager) but Lewwyn (villager) placed a last minute vote for MJW. Nobody voted for a wolf. Novice (mason) was elected as Mayor.

  • Night 1: Bobchillingworth (seer) was night-killed. Basically a lucky shot by the wolves, although they had sound reasons for choosing him.

  • Day 2: Selrahc (wolf) was lynched; others on the block were Pocketbeetle (villager) and Novice (mason). Towards the end, there was a late swing of votes towards Rowain (villager), but it eventually swung back to Selrahc, who was lynched with a total of 9 votes; 3 of these eventually turned out to be from other wolves.

  • Night 2: Uberfish (villager) was night-killed. Suspected by the wolves of being a mason along with Novice.

  • Day 3: Mid-day, Cull (villager) was mod-killed after asking to be replaced. Pocketbeetle (villager) was lynched, after being in the running on both days 1 and 2. Nobody voted for a wolf.

  • Night 3: Sandover (villager) was night-killed. Also suspected by the wolves of being a mason along with Novice.

  • Day 4: Novice (mason) initially accused Zakalwe (wolf) and Scooter (void-wolf). Later, the vote swung towards Fire&Ice (villager) and Mr. Nice Guy (villager), with everybody voting for one of those two. Mr. Nice Guy was lynched.

  • Night 4: Irgy (fool) was night-killed, after participating in a night-time discussion about revealing power roles. The wolves suspected him of being the baner and had been blocking him on 2 previous nights, while hunting for the masons.

  • Day 5: Tense day for the wolves, as there was heavy suspicion towards both Zakalwe (wolf) and Scooter (void-wolf). The only villager in the running was Fire&Ice. Towards the end, the vote was tied between the three candidates at 4 votes each. Roland (mason) broke the tie by voting for Fire&Ice at the last minute, and he was lynched. At the same time, Bruindane (wolf) was mod-killed for inactivity.

  • Night 5: The wolves attempted to kill Ichabod (villager) while also blocking him, but Ichabod was protected by the baner. Ichabod was again targeted based on a mason suspicion (and for being highly trusted).

  • Day 6: Rowain (villager) was lynched after making an apparent wolf slip at the start of the day, and also based on previous suspicions. Jkaen (villager) and Scooter (void-wolf) also gained some votes but Rowain got a clear majority.

  • Night 6: The wolves blocked and killed Novice (mason), based on a new theory that he was the baner and Roland/Lewwyn were the masons. In reality, Novice and Roland were the masons, but Novice was not protected by the baner. He passed his Mayor role on to Roland, who claimed his mason role in the process.

  • Day 7: Lewwyn (villager) was lynched, with the other candidate on the block being Jkaen (villager).

  • Night 7: The wolves blocked and killed Mardoc (baner). He was identified by the wolves as the most likely baner by thoroughly analyzing the remaining villagers, looking for who would be likely to protect Ichabod rather than Novice.

  • Day 8: Final day, with 2 confirmed innocents, 3 villagers and 3 wolves remaining. One of the confirmed innocents, Roland, was also the Mayor. Scooter (void-wolf) and Zakalwe (wolf) accused Meiz (villager) and gained the support of Serdoa (villager) and Jkaen (villager). Gold Ergo Sum (wolf) accused Jkaen, leaving the two confirmed innocents with no viable wolf candidates for lynching. Eventually the vote ended with a 4-4 tie between Jkaen and Meiz, with the tie-breaking vote going for Jkaen, who was lynched. The wolves night-killed Ichabod and won.

Order of Actions (for my sanity) was:
  1. Void Wolf
  2. Baner
  3. Werewolves
  4. Seer
  5. Fool

The practical results of this ordering is:
  1. Void Wolf trumps Baner
  2. Seer/Fool are eaten before scrying

I really liked the game. I felt that the modding (sareln's job) went so well that I could concentrate only on playing the game, rather than anything else and that's how this things should work, IMO.

I'd be very interested to play another game. The No-PM rule, albeit frustrating sometimes while playing a villager (I really wanted to be able to PM Roland during the end game), seems to be a necessity to give a chance to the wolves... Well, I'm not really sure about that, since both WW1 and WW2 could have been won by the wolves (we got unlucky on day 5 in WW3, the villagers got lucky on the similar crucial points in WW1 and WW2)...

Anyway, I'd play another game with or without PMs.

I liked the power roles in this game too. I think that it is a very balanced combination. I wouldn't be so tempted to try other roles, since I haven't seen other roles that would mantain the balance of the game.

Thanks for the great experience, Sareln.

I'm currently adapting the online mafiagame for my Chinese writing students. So I'm running 3 games for 3 of my classes. It's a lot of work trying to keep tallies and end the days and nights at the same times. But its actually quite a good tool for their writing and grammar.

That said, I have enough on my plate, but I might still be up to play the next WW game... I might play it a bit quieter...rolleye

I would be willing to host a game in the future though.

I know uberfish had something in mind, Fall from Heaven themed.

After people recover from this one, I'm willing to host a themed game based on either XCOM or FFH (no knowledge of either game would be required)

Design wise FFH would be a more complex game with high number of special powers and XCOM a more "normal" ratio of powers.

Interested, though I think it's a good idea to wait until about May to start as well.
