Turn 5-6:
Not much happening...
Switched the build in boatmurdered to a warrior. I'll need 3 warriors (maybe 2) before finishing the worker. Maybe we are lucky and the Mistform went for another prey, but I doubt it...
The exploring warrior is heading back home. On his way there, he took some time to climb an ancient tower, seeing:
Wasteland...
Well, I have to celebrate the fact that my lack of exploration won't be so harmful, since my proposed second city site is probably the best thing I'd find...
I'm still not sure about settling the second city to get gold or not... I'm starting to think it may be a good idea. I could skip education for some time and go Agri -> Mining -> AC -> Mysticism -> Runes of Kilmorph.
I'll have to think about it...

There are some nice clusters of resources around. Just not much food to actually grow a city to work any of them. One oasis and a plains sheep is not very much food.
Actually, 1W of the sheep gets you two oases, sheep, both incense, and the spices/reagents. Not exactly a marvelous city, although eventual springing would improve it substantially. No fresh water for the city itself, though.
Good luck at getting your stubby explorer back to boatmurdered to join the defense forces.

Under the current circumstances, being the Khazad will help us. There isn't much good land to expand to, so our powerful cities will shine more. And since our bonus is tied to gold (something we can get passively with RoK and markets), not worked tiles (like the Kurios, for instance...), it's even better.

I was reading SquareLeg's FFH PBEM V thread (which is very nice, by the way) and he made an April's fool joke saying that a wraith entered his lands. It was fun and all, but the important part is this:
"Well done on the April fools, didnt think to look for them in games reports (if only my reports in FFH2PBEM6 were fake )"
This is a comment by Jkaen in SL's thread. What does it tell us? Probably that the Mistform went Jkaen's way, not mine.
If that's the case, I have to say I'm sorry to Jkaen. When you read this, mate, please know that I'm kicking myself for having done what I did. That is, of course, if you are a villager in the WW3 game. If you are a wolf, I'm glad to have done it :neenernee
I'm going to finish the warrior in the capital and then finish the worker. I'll use the 2 warriors to defend the worker and build a another warrior in the capital. Mistforms cannot take cities, so I'll use the 2 warriors to defend the worker in case I'm wrong about the mistform...

Obviously I cannot comment on where the Mistform is but it is nice to see that you are planning to get through this. There is light at the end of the tunnel so good luck!

Sorry about the lack of updates, but there's not much happening. Both my warriors are fortified in the city, so I'm not exploring at all.
I'm almost sure thatg the mistform went another way. I'll wait for some turns to be sure, then I'm probably going to explore with some warriors. Since the Khazad get +20% city defense from the palace and my warriors have combat 1 from the get go, 2 warriors per city is enough. So I'll have some warriors to spare for exploration.

Thanks for the mini-update.
I was wondering what your intentions were for the Khazad worldspell. I am not sure how it would normally be used -- the extra cash for each mine is obviously useful for stocking the dwarven vaults, but changing tiles to hills seems like it might not be useful or possibly even harmful. Any thoughts?
Also, do you have any plans for an overview of the Khazad -- unique units, palace mana, traits, etc?

I'll try to do it this weekend, together with some plans regarding the game. I'll talk about the worldspell there too.

Well this looks fun, i figured since i had such fun chatting with you in FFHPBEMIV i'd only look at your thread for this game :-) Hope you don't mind.
Definatly bad land. Very bad land. Just to check did you ask for a bad land map? Or maybe thematic starts... Dwarves=bad land is pretty harsh if it's the latter... or was it a "suprise us" thing?
Quote:The problem with the 1 city approach is not having anything to build... Maybe I can go for an early brewing house (+1 happy and +10% commerce in the city due to the wheat). I could work the wheat + 5 plain cottages + farms if I have spare happy. But a new city gives me trade routes, will give things for my worker to do and can work at least 2 cottages (with the city center tile food).
Spotted this first page. Just wondering if you were factoring in the Ale resource giving +2XP to Dwarven Units? It's a random little extra that i don't think is mentioned in the Civopedia. You probably allready know but i figured i'd make sure :-p
Agressive with an easy +2xp is nothing to sneer at after all... especially for rushes.
Quote:Mistforms can't take cities, so that's a plus.
You know... I have NEVER seen a Mistform in FFH. Ever. I wonder what i'm doing wrong...

More ded-lurkers is a good thing! Although some updates would be an even better thing.

I believe the initial communication with the Kuriotates mentioned they were also seeing extremely dry lands. Maybe an arid setting on the map script, whatever type it is?
I have to agree that hopefully everyone has a similar start. If the Khazad are the only ones like this, some complaints will definitely need to be registered.
