SG4-Immortality Scares Me

luddite Wrote:It looks like the land ends to the east. It might end quickly to the west, also. So all we'd need is 1 or 2 warriors, and barbs would be eliminated.

There is a lot of land to your south for barbs to spawn in. wink Still, having N, E and W barb free easily is nice.

Quote:The real question is whether it's worth founding another city before building the GLH. That plains hill to the west stilll looks good (copper to the east doesn't change much). But we'd have to research animal husbandry too.

1 W of the PH (on the bare plains tile) would be a better site. It still pulls in the Pigs + shares a Clam with the cap but will be a better production city. Hammers are looking pretty scarce on this map so far (which is typical for water heavy maps).

You should have time to build (whip/chop) a settler before GLH but AH will almost certainly have to wait until after wheel (to connect the copper), Sailing and Masonry. In the meantime city 2 has the clams, a PH and the Pigs are fresh water so they can be farmed for a 4f tile if needed before AH.

Okay, going to try my first 13T on Immortal.

Techwise I'll follow Thoth's suggestion and tech Wheel - Sailing - Masonry
Building a few warriors after the workboat before a settler.

T18: start mining the marble as suggested. Scouting wise I move back north to the crossroad and will head southeast there.
T19: MM grows and I start working the 3 hammer hill to get the WB out in 5T.
T20: Mine finished, start working the Marble Mine for 5 hammers (WB in 3T). Decision on what to do with the worker.
T21: Nothing happens. Just move the worker.
T22: I decide to mine the other hill and put the chop into a second worker. Chop before mining since that will work better with our builds and doesn't cost us a turn.
T23: WB done, hook up clams and work it to grow next turn.
T24: MM grows to size 3, working the MM again. Chop comes in and goes into another fast worker.
T25: Borders pop and city site 2 looks even better. GES, you have way to much luck!

There is no more land east, so no need for a warrior there.

T26:

Sailing next. Decide to finish the second Fast Worker (2T) before another warrior. And there is a hut, let's see what it brings!

T27:

GES should pop all other huts from now...

T28:
Our brave scout dies after killing one of the barbs.
Fast worker finishes, time for another warrior (or 2) before a settler/workboat.

T29:
And there is another hut...leaving it to the next player...

Worker 1 is roading toward the copper to connect it for Axes. Worker 2 is roading toward the second city site.

Another warrior finished. Put a warrior as placeholder, but the next player can decide what to build.

Here are our demo's T29:

Hope I did thing ok! lol

Where are we headed next in terms of strategy?

Sailing-->Masonry? Math?

When do we want to found the next city?

I would think we want to consider getting out at least one more WB.

With the fast workers, we should be able to chop out TGLH fairly quickly. With two FW, while working the marble, we should be able to do it ~6 turns?

How many warriors do we have right now? I am guessing barbs will be coming soon.

We have 2 warriors now. I think going Masonry for TGL after Sailing is the best option.
AH is a good tech afterwards.

I still think we should get our second city before TGL.

The real question is: are we alone on our island?

Ok, my first thought on looking at this is- what's up with the roads? We really don't need copper this early, especially because we can spawn lock all the barbarians near our capital. And we're India! We should have been chopping, not road building. Well, since we've half-grown and built a mine, I guess we might as well make use of that. I'm going to have both workers chop, while the capital works the unimproved clams for 1 turn in order to grow in 2 turns, and then make a settler.

first things first. I pop the hut and...

What, no free pottery? I'm disappointed.

T32: grew and finished chopping, killed a wolf.

So uh... I forgot that we were hatshepsut, and spiritual. I converted to slavery on T33, because I thought it would be good for later on. But we didn't need to do that at all.duh I'll convert back, later on.

We've got a lot more land than I initially thought in the west. Unfortunately, it's all tundra and ice, so it's almost useless except for spawning barbarians. The only plus side is we'll get 2 silver.

T33: one turn of road on the corn, en route to chopping

This is just a funny screenshot. Our warrior can chop a forest but... it'll take a while...

a bear and a warrior! We lost the original warrior, but that's ok.

T36: settler finishes. I've sent him towards the city 2 site. Unfortunately i can't pasture the pigs yet, so i sent the worker towards the wheat.

T37: sailing finishes, started on masonry. Western warrior promoted to woodsman.

continuing the alcohol theme of city names... this is the brand of drink that I'm drinking right now. If this city name is too confusing you can rename it.

Since we don't have pottery yet, I started it building a work boat.

On the last turn, the lighthouse finished in the capital. Unfortunately, since we don't have masonry yet, we can't start the GLH. I'd suggest building another settler, which could finish in exactly 3 turns with a chop, plus a whip for overflow into the GLH.

I thought I changed the name from my initials to SG4-Immortality Scares Me. Oh well. Next player can do it. Speaking of which: scooter, you're up.

Good turns. I agree that we need to be chopping like crazy. I assume we will just mass chop TGLH?

That tundra up there is very unfortunate. We probably want to get an Axe up there eventually and try to get enough XP for HE.

Where would we settle city 3?
