this is how it looks right now

got an event lowering capital's pop by 1 a few turns ago. settler done next turn, will be accompanied by a warrior and settle 1E of the northern sheep. worker will follow to farm a plains river south of that. cap will make a warrior or two for extra defense, when mysticism is done double revolt to agrarianism and god-king and research animal husbandry (pasture cows and sheep), followed by crafting, mining (mine gold) and exploration. cap will produce another worker after growing another size, then maybe growing once more before another worker. and stuff

i've got a nap in place with selrahc to t100 in return for a 10-t water mana loan deal for whenever i want, so adepts soon for springing will be nice. dunno when to fit that in though.

don't want to rush anyone too early, because that hasnt worked out too well for anyone in any ffh pbem game so far it seems. maybe around t100 attack. maybe 80-ish. too dizzy to think right now

Ok, here are some first impressions and thoughts based on what you've posted so far.

Obviously the biggest thing of note is the terrain. It sucks as far as food is concerned. To me, this says that:
1) Cities will grow slower(duh.)
2) Aristocracy is weak(along with slavery.)
3) Food will be priority #1 in city placement/management, commerce will probably suffer the most from this.
4) Infernals(demonic citizens) will be freakishly powerful. Sacrifice the weak as well.
5) Most other civilizations are poorly suited to the map:

The Amurites can probably terraform it better/faster but i think that will still take awhile.
I don't think the Lanun ever found water(is there even any water?) or at least I missed if you said they did. If they have water they will do alright I guess.
Khazad will have a rough time I think. I haven't played them but their only benefit here seems to be dwarven workers and the lack of food/commerce/resources will make it harder to fill a decent vault.
I'm also less familiar with the Elohim. They seem like a decent civ but don't really have a lot that will synergize with this map.
Kurioates should do alright probably. Their supercities might help them include more food into the BFC and get some decent-ish cities. Their mounted units will also like these wide open spaces.

Overall, I'm thinking we either need to rush someone and/or rush toward the Veil. Slower growth of enemy civilizations and a lack of obstructing hills/forests will work well with a mounted strike force. Commerce will be tough for everyone, I think, so pillaging/razing a few cities could be huge.

The other options would take a lot longer, either using water/nature mana to terraform the land or trying to turtle ineffectively or something. Our traits/civ and the map are all in favor of earlier conflict.
Actually the other players might just try to rush for Hyborem. He's kinda broken on this map.

Obviously I don't have the full picture yet but hopefully I'm not too far wrong.

thnaks for the comments.

yeah i debated for a long time whether to go aristocracy or cottages, and it's still not too late to change to cottages, but cottages are really bad as well lol

the lanun did find water, however selrahc says that the whole coast is coated by ice, so the only decent tiles he will have is his water tiles. still better than we have though i guess

tbh i havent really thought hard about this game, after i saw the bad terrain i kinda just decided to wing it.

Your analysis of hyborem is true, or at least if there are some evil-religion running civs to give us manes. but we will probably never get there first, there are much better techers in this game than us sadly.

i think getting to kote asap would be really helpful. it would delay a rush a bit, but it would definitely help our food situation as we'd get a bunch of plains river city spots up north, and we've already tied down a water trade from selrahc.

also i won't be doing much analysis while im injured, i hope you understand.

Still great to have a dedlurker though, and when i'm back in business in a few weeks we can go through things more thoroughly.

also are you available to play june 1st to june 8th? Because i'm hopefully going on vacation then (unless my broken wrists stop me) and i'll need someone to play for me then.

aaaand i forgot to switch password again lol

no big deal though as im sure i can play every turn now, but i need to switch it before i leave on june 1st though

in other news, mysticism researched and i revolted to god king and agrarianism. started research on animal husbandry. settler is 1 or 2 turns from settling. A few more warriors in Starvald Demelain, then worker and elder council.

Still have time to go for cottages if it's the better choice. What do you say? It doesn't really get me better food because i'll have to have a lot of cottage tiles which will balance off the fact i get more food from farms so it's not a big deal. Plus much more susceptible to pillaging and stuff.
