Warlords has gone gold

notice that charismatic is changed ~ only +1 happy, but you also get one with Monument (the generic replacement of teh old oblelisk?)

and it looks like protective, too.

ooo...univ of sankore ~ +2 to religious (and not just Jewish?) bldgs ~ not bad...nice if paired with Spiral Minaret eek

i also welcome the inclusion of the 2 new units. trebuchets could stand to have maybe 6 str, but the boni it recieves are nice compensation. and triremes ~ sweet! an A T T A C K ship, nice little option there.

all in all, i am anxiously awaiting the expansion to throw water on the game and freshen it back up for me

edit: i'm not sure if the Generals will be overpowered as their generation is tied to XP pts gained, and it doubles everytime ~ i can't see more than 3 or 4 being generated. Still, though, use those 3 or 4 in a SoD with 50 units each time for the extra XP. THAT would be powerful, but i cna't see that being allowed. perhaps it only affects a limited number of units??

Read the IGN preview and I am looking forward to trying the expansion as I love the regular game.

+2 free Scientists

Perhaps the best new building 2 free Scientists that early are great.

I looked at the IGN article, they list the Institute as follows:
Russian Research Institute, replaces Laboratory
+2 free Scientists

So if it replaces Laboratory, I don't think it's too unbalancing, a couple free specialists in the late game seems reasonable.

Ah then they have changed it. When I looked it said Library. (i simple copied their text). Later I heard on Civfanatics that it should read Observatory. Now it is Laboratory. If it is Laboratory it is for sure not unbalancing just a nice little Bonus.

And some more clarifications from the Author of the IGN-Article (taken from here )

Barracks give now only 3 XP; Stable is a new building available with HBR adding 2XP for mounted Units stacking with barracks so va city with barracks and Stable builds 5 XP mounted Units and 3 XP Footsolidiers.

The 20 XP from the GG becoming a Warlord are distributed to those Units in the same tile (= if there are 2 Units each one gets 10 XP )

Incan Terrace: replaces Granary
+2 Culture

An elegant multi-purpose building.

"Aztec Sacrificial Altar, replaces Courthouse, -50% anger from sacrificing population."

Oh my. Although it would be nice if it came earlier in the game, this is going to result in an abundance of lashings.

Hold off on speculation until the release date? Where's the fun in that?

To add some signal - I'm forced to admit that I haven't been able to work out what "-25% XP for promotions" is going to mean in a game based on integer math.

Is there an SDK release that coincides with Warlords?

As far as I could gather it means they get Promos at 2/ 4 / 8 XP each which is the reason why barracks will only give 3 XP in Warlords.

Edit: guess that they are rounding down.

Right, despite being 14 and poor I've managed to pre order it smile . Expect to see some reports of personal games when it's released!

This question didn't seem worthy of a new thread, and it seems relevant to the RB crowd since the RB games--at least for now--are still to be played under v1.61.

Is there a way to have both CIV 1.61 and CIV/Warlords installed on the same computer? That way, you can experiment with the new without disposing of the old.
