We are moving into the final stages of our game, and hopefully will be able to finish it next week. For anyone interested in what we've been up to, I have typed up a report and added it to the website.

It would be silly to stop here without closing this thing out once and for all; remember, it won't be entered into our personal hall of fames unless we finish. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm having a good time. What else would you be doing next Wednesday anyway?

While thinking about it last night, I was in favor of just stopping this game, since the outcome was all but decided, but I do like things to show up in my HOF.... Okay I'm in :-). Frankly, I'm kind of surprised by how easy it's been. I mean I know Monarch isn't Deity, but I thought that it was still supposed to be pretty challenging. I know when I play SP games on Monarch, it's not going to be a cakewalk, but this game has been extremely easy. I don't know if that's just because it's 5 humans vs. 5 computers (and we team up / communicatebetter than they do), or something else. But we have been sending huge stacks of swords/praets/cats into the AI, and never seen more than a mini stack of 2-3 units from any of the AIs. And that's even considering the insane early combat bad luck we had as well as the early engineer / Oracle loss. I'm also glad to see that you were also having trouble with the barbs last week (while I was gone). I made some major missteps as far as barbs are concerned yesterday. I sent most of my army to the frontlines, since I figured there wasn't a need for more than a token force, way back in the back lines. As a result, I had to deal with some msjor barb excursions / pillaging, and 2 or 3 times wondering if I was going to lose a city (one of which you had a pic of). I learned my lesson to both keep some troops posted as sentries / fogbusters as well as keeping other units back to mop up anything that was spotted. I found a Guerilla 2 archer in the hills worked well where I was with all the hills. All in all, a good time.
Yeah definitely a good time.
I'm quite happy to spend another week finishing them off since I've had one less week than most of you ... and of course with my UU on the horizon for some added fun. One thing that interested me, I got the feeling that we chatted more last night with just text messaging than we had before when T-speak was working. Maybe a result of the medium, or maybe we're just getting more comfortable with each other.... Oh, and I think it was Ruff who had to leave early the second session ... something about the Canadians turning off the Internet at 9pm or something?
