Warlords has gone gold

Not sure, but Warlords is on shelves as of today, and I will be picking it up at some point.

I'll give a definitive answer to this later tonight.

I was just reading up on the Civ4/Warlords forum at civilization4.net and apparently it's a different executable (requiring the Warlords CD to run), so you should be able to play both versions at the same time. (Maybe not at *exactly* the same time, but at least without any reinstalling or directory name changing, etc.)

Still, if someone can confirm this, that'd be great.

Is there any word on a Warlords SDK?

One thing I was noticing from browsing around over at CFC is that chariots are apparently 100% attack vs. axeman. That's nice, as there wasn't really a paper to the rock of an axe rush.

Very cool, thanks thumbsup

Did they fix the whipping bug? I.e., if you have a 25% production bonus (forge or Org Religion), do you get nPop*37.5 or nPop*30 (subject to a bug) hammers when you whip?

I havent checked this yet, but one interesting thing is that now whipping and chopping both add hammers to the queue for next turn instead of giving them immedietely. My guess is this was implemented to prevent against the chopping settlers while growing thing. Now you actually have to waste a turn each time. Good change I would say.

Also combat is a bit more difficult with the change to barracks. Only +3 exp instead of +4. No more win one battle and you have yourselves a city raider 2 swordsman rant

Ill check the forge bug once I get metal casting in my current game eek lol lol

Blake posted to my question at civilization4.net that the whipping bug is indeed fixed. Cool.

Oh, Chariots in general get a bonus vs. Axes now? I thought that was something they added to Immortals specifically. (I'm putting the expansion through its paces as Cyrus right now.)

There is also another change that goes some way to stopping the worker stealing "exploit/strategy".
Now when a worker is captured the worker can not move for one turn. This at least gives the AI (and human) a chance to recapture if the capture is not done with enough backup to protect the worker.
