Agh.... I really dont want to be a problem here, but I didnt think we would start tommorow. 2-3 day notice would have been better for me. I will do my best to try to make it but please dont kick me out of the game if I cant. I guarantee I will be there for every other session.
Theres a high probability that if I do make it, I will be 30-40 minutes late. So if that is the case, Ill just try to join the game from wherever you guys have played up until..

I thought that the original post was pretty clear... This is unfortunate, however, it will probably take us some time to set things up tonight before we get started. We actually can't start the game without all humans present, because (as we learned last time with Dreylin) adding an AI will unavoidably set that civ to Noble difficulty. And we're not going to have 6 players set on Deity and one on Noble.
Please try to join us as soon as possible.

Yes you were, but since there was really no indication that the game was about to start, I thought we were still in the planning phases and planned on starting the game next week.
The preparation time makes me happy though, there is a good chance I will be online around 9:00-9:15 PM EST time... so if you havent started by then, ill join up.
Does the level get reset if the AI plays for somebody if they're there to start the game? Otherewise you could just have somebody else start the game for Qwack and then just have the AI play his first turn.

If it's the latter, one possibility is to try a VPN -- it'd make your computers look like they're all on the same LAN, so in theory you'd be able to play a LAN-game rather than an Internet game (gamespy). I've seen nothing but lots of praise for Hamachi (a near-zero configuration VPN tool that does NAT traversal and everything else), but I have yet to need to try it myself.
This is a good idea and I have seen it mentioned a few times on the forums. Do we want to try this if we run into connection issues next Wed?
I downloaded the software and it was easy setting up an account and forming a network - it installs another network driver in your 'settings / network connections'. I'm not sure, but I expect that the first person in (Sullla) forms a virtual network and gives out the network address, then everyone connects via their Hamachi network ... then we start the game on the lan.
