No problem, it was pretty uneventful.
I marked some potentials for cities on the map, basically anything that doesn't grab a few resources is probably not worth it. We can also place cities so that they share food resources.
I sent a warrior a little to the west to get a better look at that area, but he was diverted by an elephant.
I'll stay unspoiled as far as the other threads, and I'm subscribed to this thread. So feel free to ask if you ever want any input.

Got a message from Ichabod:
Ichabod Wrote:Hey Sciz,
It's been a while since we last talked about the FFH PBEM VI game. Anything interesting happening in Hippus Lands? And how's your recovery going?
My game has been featuring a lack of any kind of surprises. No events, no barbs, no dungeons... It's mostly worker here, warrior there, end turn. And since all my explorers were eaten, I don't know much about the map. The only capital I can see right now is yours, for example. Guess you settled your second city to get the gold/cow and sheep site. It's a very good one, for sure, and it'll help a lot your civ. My second city site is very similar to this one I suspect you settled on, but I couldn't get the gold with it, because of strategical problems.
One of the things I want to discuss with you is a deal that I want to propose. I want a no competition agreement regarding the RoK religion. I'm currently teching mining and I planned to beeline WotE after that, but I realized a detour to another tech could be very helpful. But I really can't afford losing RoK, it's so important for the Khazad.
So, I offer you a 10t earth mana loan, a non compete agreement to any religion that you choose and open borders as soon as I tech Cartography (I'll probably be the first one there). What do you think?
Anything else you'd like to know, any other deals you'd like to suggest, just let me know.
Kind Regards,
Ichabod
Of course, I wasn't planning on getting RoK very soon at all, but what the hell, might as well try to get something out of it:
Sciz Wrote:Hi!
Yeah I haven't been doing any diplo whatsoever since i got injured because it's just been annoying to type a lot. However I got my casts off today so hopefully I should start being more active in that department again.
My game has been pretty much the same as yours, nothing's happened except a Mistform attack, which luckily suicided on my walls, but other than that it's been pretty dull. The horrible terrain doesn't make for exciting scouting either.
I am glad for my second city site, and I suspect that all of us have similar land layouts, with the big river in the center dividing us all up, as I can see a river fork going up towards your lands that corresponds with my river fork. Sadly the place I settled is the only decent land there is, everything else is really crap. But I'll have to soldier on I guess!
I've met everyone in the game except Jkaen, have you met him? Selrahc is to my southwest, but I don't really know where Dantski and Irgy are, I could find out but as I said i've been very lax with diplomacy since my injury.
On the religion issue, I've been looking forward to getting RoK as well, and i'm researching mining right now to get there. I also already have mysticism of course as you should have seen from the event log. I could let you have the religion first, but the non-competition clause is pretty useless since you won't be very interested in other religions anyways. How about you send me a thane of kilmorph max 10 turns after you've founded RoK, together with the earth mana loan and the open borders when you get cartography? That will help you as well, since it'll net you extra income when you get the shrine if i spread the faith in my lands.
Humbly yours,
Sciz

Also sent off messages to Irgy/Mardoc and Dantski, because I haven't talked to them at all

Ichabod Wrote:Hey Sciz!
Good to know about your hands.
I met everyone but Jkaen too. I got some news about him through Mardoc, but not much (according to Mardoc, Jkaen is being very closed with his diplomacy). You probably noticed the weird demographics, and I'm betting Jkaen is the owner of most of them. Power of 2000 at turn 49 is very strange, for example. That's a size 3 capital with no army, most likely!
On the RoK deal. I'm willing to accept your terms, but I'd like to propose a little change. I'm not sure if I can meet your 10 turn deadline to a thane. The first problem is that I'll need cartography and open borders to spread the religion in one of your cities. The second is the need to build a temple before the thane. The third is regarding the thane getting killed on his way.
So, here's what I propose. I give you a 10t law mana loan besides the earth one. We extend the deadline to 15 turns to get the thane to your city and the law loan also serves as an insurance for a possible thane death in the way (I'd still send you others as soon as possible, but maybe not on the deadline).
What do you think about it?
Kind Regards,
Ichabod
Sciz Wrote:Hmm... that works I guess. Agreed then:
I will not pursue RoK, and in return:
You will give me a 10t earth mana loan and a 10t law mana loan when I want them.
You will send me a Thane of Kilmorph at a maximum of 15 turns after RoK has been founded.
We will have open borders when cartography has been researched by you.
Regards,
Sciz
good enough

Very nice. You managed to get paid to not do something you wouldn't have done anyway. I wish my boss and I could come to a similar arrangement.

AH in, got horses right on the city marker to the west of Kurald Galain, and to the west in the BFC of the 2x oasis, 2x desert incense, sheep spot. Don't need horses of course, but they are decent tiles, 1f/4h/1c on plains i think.
That 2x oasis spot with horses sheep and incense looks really good now, but I need more food there. When I spring the incense and oasises the spot will be good, but before that it'll be hard, no chain irrigation possible since the river to the north is covered by desert.
pics next turn, forgot to now

The horses to the west:
We'd have to settle on the horses to grab all three of the cotton, oasis and southern sheep. Spot wouldn't be worth it without all three I think.
The horses to the east:
A better spot, with the 2x incense, 2x oasis and sheep, but a bit far away. Still probably my number one choice for 3rd city, sadly. Needs culture ASAP to work anything good except the first oasis. Also needs spring so much. Springing the oasises and incense will make them both great tiles, and springing the desert to the north will enable chain irrigation. Already tied up a water mana loan from selrahc, so I think we should get KotE asap, even though we won't have much use for it otherwise.
And here's where Orthus spawned:
Close to us!
He'll go for either Selrahc or us. Too bad we've got all that forest around us in that direction, will make it tougher to kill Orthus if he goes for Starvald Demelain. When the settler finishes I'll have to mass produce warriors for a while.

actually I just noticed I can chain irrigate the eastern city through the hills west of the incense, but I still need spring for all the desert tiles so yeah.

I think that if you found adjacent to an oasis it will mean that you can chain irrigate from you city tile....
