I just got back from my first a three weeks out of town this month so I haven't spent much time thinking about this game yet, but I hope to rectify that now that I'm back at work and things are incredibly slow.

Well, initial thoughts:

- I don't really like how much coast/ocean is in this capital. The coast tiles themselves are nice bonus since they still get the vanilla FIN bonus but over time they will become less and less useful compared to cottages.

-Warrior is not in a very helpful place to see what else can be seen.

-Crabs can't be worked based on this starting location and unless there is land to the south, I would have to found with significant overlap to use the crabs.

-I'm seriously thinking of moving settler 1N and settling there. I would lose 2 coast and 2 ocean and pick up 4 unknown land tiles. I would still be on the river for a levy some day.

-The danger of moving 1N is that if there isn't enough land N then I might ruin a good location for a city up there.

-Looks like a thin strip of land to the SE. One mountain in the fog is just visible but there does seem to be a way around it to the S.

-Because of the changes, hunting won't let me hook up the deer. frown But I will be able to mine that silver right away because I have mining. Agriculture will probably need to be first tech then probably AH to build the two camps I need.

Here is your start. First turn will be started soon. Enjoy! smile

(note: Some starts were changed, and this was purely for balance and had no interest in messing with anyone's plans.)

So i lost my clams. frown

Still planning to move north then to settle I think. Will look closer when the save comes around.

Played the first turn and basically did what I said in a previous post. Move 1N, settled, and started researching Agriculture.

Good Luck, Dazed. I'm already spoiled in this one, but I sure hope you have a nice game!

Ouch! It's been awhile since I updated this thread -- even for me! Hey, it's only 41 turns or so. It's not like that much really happens in the first 40 turns of a Civ game. We all know you can do anything in the first forty turns and still catch up later, right? lol I think Scooter's comment in chat when I said i was about to update this thread was somethign like, "um, who are you and when does Dazed get back?"

There's not much diplomatically to tell you because this game is a non-diplomacy game, except in game trades are allowed. I haven't really done anything with that myself, though I need to start thinking about it. TT offered to trade maps with me but I didn't because I'm one turn away from circumnavigation and I didn't know how the map trade might affect that if we both got it at the same time. However, it's not really a big deal because boats are a minor deal on a lakes map like this. I didn't set out to get it but as I was exploring I realized I had the N-S connection and almost had the E-W. I've been checking to make sure no one else has gotten it yet, but watch! I bet I missed the notification and someone else already achieved circumnavigation. If so, oh well.

So for today's update I'm just going to show you my three cities (yeah, just three. I rushed to three then focused on infastructure). The photos are a turn old because I was going to post them when the forum went down. I also have some overview map info just to get a sense of my land. I'll try to do Demos and whatnot in the next update (soon!) since the save is already in my inbox. Hopefully I will have time to play after work today.

Here's my capital, Blanchard Hall:

I just finished a chariot and actually went straight into another warrior so that I would grow into unhappiness. Then I started a settler and I will use the extra unhappy pop in a whip. Double whips aren't great in the RB mod but every turn faster I get the next settler out is good!

My second city:

McCully is making a play for an early Scientist. I switched off the horse onto a second specialist to speed that up once it wouldn't affect the ETA of the worker. I had been stockpiling gold while I was building the library and then turned it all on once the library came in. With the second specialist I think it's up to 24.5 beakers/turn, which is pretty good. (Preview of Demos, I'm #1 in GNP at the moment--of course, I'm also CRE). Now i'm rushing through Currency on the way to Code of Laws, hopefully.

Newest city:

I'm tentatively thinking production here and possibly the Moai Statues. It's not the greatest moai place ever, but I want to get it going sooner than later. Also, there's no rivers to accelerate my Fin trait so it's not a good commerce site. It's actually a better GPP farm site than McCully but it was up and running to late to get the early scientist.

The lands to my north:

Southwest:

East:

My power is on par with everyone else so I'm not too worried about any immediate military action. TT is directly to my north (you can see his borders in the above screen shot). I hate to judge so early but when it comes time to fight instead of just expand, he'll probably be my first target simply based on a reputation for not standing up well under war pressure. (Sorry, TT!) But that will be quite a few turns away still.
