Not much happening, except that barbs are coming to threaten my civ to destruction.

Got Orthus coming in from the SW and a barbarian warrior to the west. Also a goblin to the west of Kurald Galain. KG has only one warrior in it, 2t for another.

Starvald Demelain has 2 warriors, 2t for the next, and Orthus is two or three turns away.

What promotions is Orthus brandishing? With the Hero promotion is will have been gaining 1xp per turn for a little while now no?

Anyways things are looking grim.

Got 4 warriors in the capital now, but Orthus moved north instead towards Kurald Galain, and is 3t away from it now. It only has 2 warriors (plus a C2/shock warrior 2t away from it), and there's a barb warrior 1t away in the NW, and a barb warrior on the same tile as Orthus, also heading for it. None of my warriors from the capital will be able to get there in time, so i'll just have to pump warriors to save it. Sigh.

Also my GNP situation is atrocious. I'm topping the charts in Crop Yield and Production, but i'm dead last in GNP, by a big amount too. Feels like everyone else must have had a commerce resource at their capital or something, otherwise I dunno how I've been left so far behind.

Okay here's the deal



Goblin in the north suicided on Kurald Galain, and a warrior was dispatched by one of mine. I founded Akhrast Korvalain to the east as you can see, and it will need to pop its borders asap to get some decent tiles. When it grows to size 2 it will be working a 3 hammer plains hills, which will be nice.

It looked like Orthus+warrior was heading north towards Kurald Galain, which wouldn't be nice, so I moved out two warriors north from Starvald Demelain, and Orthus responded by going SE and threatening the capital. I will move back the two warriors next turn though, and another warrior will be done then, so I should manage. We'll see though. Hopefully Orthus attacks right away, and with SD being on a hill and across a river, Orthus might be damaged enough for me to kill him off. If I don't manage to though, I'm pretty screwed as he'll start getting even more combat promotions.

At EOT a goblin and a barb warrior showed up north of KG. I also realize that Akhrast Korvalain is only protected by one warrior and if I'm unlucky it might be wiped out, especially since it's on desert with -25% defense. I had two warriors moving with the settler, but I had to retreat Reverance, my C2/Shock warrior to defend Kurald Galain when the barbs started showing up, so i'm taking a big risk here. I need Orthus to get killed ASAP so I can move more warriors to defend AK.

My tech rate is still atrocious, top GNP is 49 or something, compared to my 15, and i'm dead last in that category. I need the gold and incense hooked up ASAP, and also markets to up my gpt. The incense will be fairly crap before I spring it though. I really need spring asap. I can research KotE already, and I don't need elementalism since Selrahc is providing the water mana, but I should probably wait until after CoL, or the teching to KotE will be too slow. Ugh, there's so much I need. Mining right now to hook up gold. Then exploration to get trade routes and the happiness from the gold. Then festivals for markets so I can save my economy from crashing. Then Education and CoL to get my tech rate going for real. Then KotE to start springing AK and KG, and any other potential cities in the north. Then I desperately need sanitation, because with CoL all my cities will be pretty food deprived.

There's so much I really need. I'm trying to only get the techs that are really important, but all of these techs are essential to me. And I need to get attacking someone or my horse archers or whatever I gun for will be obsolete before I know it. But I do need these economy techs first. No use conquering someone and then not being able to keep the spoils because your eco is too crap.

Aloft, Abide and Placid died attacking him, and Freedom finished him off. Two warriors remaining in Starvald Demelain, but it should be okay, Freedom has the axe (but gained only 6 exp sadly) and SD can produce a warrior per turn if I need to. Kurald Galain is threatened again. A goblin and a warrior stand east of the city, and another warrior approaches from the west. KG has currently a C2/shock and a C2 warrior in the city so we should be okay.

Also i'd just like to apologize for the lack of updates and pictures. I know when I started to lurk games I always loved seeing pics and updates, and it was pretty boring to follow the game when there weren't any. And I have no real reason for the lack, I just can't be assed. So yeah sorry about that. I told myself when I started playing PBEMs that I would update a lot, and I did in the beginning with PBEM2, but after that I've just not felt like it.

Not much happening right now anyways. Mining came in and i'm improving the gold north of Kuruld Galain for faster tech. Copper popped in Starvald Demelain's BFC, which is nice, so my second worker is improving that now. I'm working scientists in both KG and SD to improve my awful tech rate, also building the Derptus Brewery in SD, partly because I have nothing else to build, and partly for the happiness (both KG and SD at happy cap with lots of surplus food) and the 10% commerce bonus from wheat. Still like 8 turns until Akhrast Korvalain's borders pop. I should start working on another settler already, but there are like no good city sites left lol. When the Derptus House is done i'll start on another settler after growing a size though.
