The AI is actually disadvantaged in some ways at Impossible since it doesn't know how to use its insane economy bonuses properly. This often results in it having way too many useless units, draining its food, gold and mana to the point where it doesn't have much of an advantage anymore. I think kyrub's patch does a lot to remedy this.
