[SPOILER] Asoka of Aztec - Ioan(76)

OK - will follow a big update, with pictures too ... smile

First of all ... is any rule in this game which prevent a nation - except me - to be at war with two others ? rolleye

Ask this because the "phony war" between Nicolae and Sareln is over ( again ) and Nicolae turns upon me once more ... bang

Anyway - attached is an overview of my ... "empire" at Anno Domini 710 on the 18th plannet from Constelation Realms Beyond. smile

The ( new ) war with Nicolae is in a veeery bad moment for me as I commited most of my units on Eastern front ( yeap - a mistake, I estimated that Sareln will keep him busy longer frown )

Here is an overview of my army - prepared to break the stealmate with GingerEagle ( a small trap is prepared here - I kept half of the army back, not observable in order to not give any indication about the size of stack ... to not let him group his defenders ). shhh

The next picture show the "initial front" with Nicolae - where I assume that I have a quite good parity of forces ... rolleye

I occupied the only forest-tile remained in the area ( where one of my workers was captured at the begining of the war ). Strange - he deleted both the worker and the only unit commited ... which may indicated that he will not attack in the area ( otherwise there would be a swarm of his units in the forest, no ? lol ).

And now ... my weakest part ... the "soft-belly" of my glorious empire ... banghead

Well ... sort of good news on the eastern front and a veeery baad news on western one. frown

I sacrificed a catapult and an axeman but I managed to kill one of GingerEagle group of soldiers ( and also reduced my fiscal problems with this losses lol ) - and remained with 3 fresh units to resist to his possible, but not probable counter-strike. I know that a catapult is quite expensive ( in hammers ) units but I'd say that this was a good trade-off.

You could check the situation into attached picture.

What's really bad is the fact the my assumption was correct : Nicolae's stack appear on the hill near Lacrimioara ... it has 7 axemans, 2 catapults ( not too many - this could be my chance ! ) and 2 spearmans. I have 2 more turns to prepare sort of defense there ... probably I'll whip the walls there ( even if this will cost me 3 population banghead ). Let's see what will happen next turns ...

Best regards to all my ( silent ) lurkers. wink

Nicolae didn't send me the save yet ... probably he was busy and I'll receive it when I'll be at work already but I have a question for my lurkers : do catapults receive defensive bonus from culture/war or not ( I know that mounted units don't but just now I realized that I was never in the position to use 2 catapults as "non-siege affected" defenders until now rolleye ) ?

I have another dilemma too ... just get a Great Scientist. The usual way for him now is to build an Academy in capital - but, in my specific condition, wouldn't be better to use it for a GA which to bring me Code Of Laws ( desperately need it ) ? huh

Seems that I found the answer to my first question here ... and is a bad one ( for me ) :

Quote:Doesn't receive defensive bonuses

OK ... arrived home at open the save ... and the situation near Lacrimioara is reaaly bad. banghead

I whipped some walls there ( cost me 3 pops ! cry ) to get maximum defense for my units there ... which are not too many anyway ... frown

Here, in attached picture, are my weak defensive army ... just 6 units in total.

Need to think a little bit what to do next. rolleye

Ok ... despite the temptation I decided to wait for Nicolae to attack and to see what will happen. alright

Another irritating fact : he sent a chariot into an attempt to pillage again my gold. Can't let this to happen ... so I attacked with a chariot ... and lost it ( at >60% chances ! banghead ). Anyway - used a garrison archer to mop it out. rolleye

Now ... a good news - I managed to raze a barbarian city south of GingerEagle empire ( I should admit that I was veeery tempted to keep it, but maintenance is already a huge issue ) from where my Jaguar pillaged ~100 gold pieces ... enough to research this turn Currency !! bow

He he ... finally a really good news from Eastern front : GingerEagle made a mistake and let 3 axemans without coverage from a spearman to a hill ... a nice opportunity to use my 2 chariots - no ? wink

Yess ... I got a Great General too !! :dancing5:

Encouraged by this victory I placed an extremly advanced city in the passage ... paradoxally - this has a huge cost of maintenance, but lowers my unit-cost ! tongue
