More to follow tonight.
I haven't forgotten about this but other things have taken over. As you can see from the above posts - this process is actually fairly large. I have decided to start from scratch and put together a systematic approach to submitting Blue Marble for approval. The attached PDF sets out the game plan that I intend to use.
I would value any comments that you have on my suggested approach, especially items that I have left out.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I accidentally started Epic 8 with Blue Marble before noticing this thread and will submit that report out of tournament, but for future events I'm wondering what the status is on this mod. So far I have seen nothing to indicate any spoilers, and if you're pixel peeping in the fog you need to move away from the screen anyway.
this is a huge mod to investigate. I am *still* working on the sucker.

I've read a number of (SG) reports from players using the BM mod, and frankly, my heart does not warm up to this mod. The reason is, and I agree with Majromax on this, that it's harder to tell the different tiles apart.
Quote:In fact, given BM's "shades of green" color scheme, it seems to make the distinctions harder, if anything, from the limited screenshots shown so far.
And it's not just the color. It's the added amount of detail to the textures (for greater realism) that makes it harder still. Ergonomically speaking (I know a thing or two about ergonomics) the mod increases the amount of visual information on the (already very busy) screen. So, perception is harder and more tiresome. I would argue that using the BM mod certainly doesn't give that player an advantage. More like a disadvantage.
Should this mod be allowed for RB games? I think there is not going to be anything against it objectively (in terms of player advantage and such), but subjectively I'm not looking forward to seeing more reports in Blue Marble.
Ruff_Hi, I respect the amount of effort you are putting in to this and I don't want to rain on your parade. This is just my take on this subject.
I've started a new thread with the completed review document here.
