Turn report:

Dave adopted war civics at the end of his Golden Age... That's odd. Especially as his best draftable unit at the moment is...

...swordsmen. (EDIT: Doh, he has Machinery of course, so he can draft Macemen.) On the other hand, he has astronomy now, so let's get that too. It seems everybody has the same thought, as everyone has optics this turn. Max discount for us. jive

Ran a trade mission in Istanbul to fund our research. Oh and notice that Shoot finally built a settler. lol Nice cottages though.

All techs are 1-turn projects due to massive overflow from compass->optics.

In net beaker terms, on standard cost (needs to be adjusted for this game), I estimate that we are up:

820 on Darrell
880 on Dave
1430 on Rego
2820 on Shoot

Plus net cash of about 1000 on them all, and we can get Astro (2000) in 1 turn.

Of course, that discounts other players' overflow and the fact that three players have yet to play their turn at the time of count up.

Not looking bad and Oxford + observatories to come soon.

Yeah, so compared to PB4, we're all pretty even at this point. Average GNP is approaching 1000, so a difference of a few thousand beakers isn't all that much.

Now that we have optics we should build a few caravels and scout our rivals' coasts (or just trade maps?). And we should settle the whales. Net Borrower whips a forge next turn, I queued a settler next, but we might have a better place to build the settler.

Let's just trade maps.
