Turn 116 [1120AD]
Finally got my units named ... phew
Machinery in!! Excellent ... I'll start rolling out the repeating crossbows next turn.
It was a Great Merchant that spawned ... decisions, decisions ... offers to bulb Currency [but I can tech this in 2 turns anyway] ... see what I'd get from sending to to/from Duracell Batt2 [tempting] ... risk sending a trade mission to Sareln [also tempting, but he may just kill it] ... get peace with loan & then find a decent city of his within 10 turns [also tempting, but ...] ... I'll settle it, I get 1 food & 6 Gold per turn [which would mean losing out on 60G if I send him on the wild goose chase to loan's lands]
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

Turn 117 [1140AD]
Hmm ... interesting:
Wants my Marble for his Stone. What's he building? I've not got any use for the Marble at the moment, and the Stone will speed up my Walls. Oh, go on then, I accept! The race is really for who comes second now ... look at all those cities, no wonder he's twice my score!!! Oh well, if I can turn the tide of this war with Ioan, maybe I'll catch up
Great Merchant settled, and Gold being worked in Mouton D'Or, the economy:
100%: 166 beakers @ -59G/turn
50%: 83 beakers @ +6G/turn
0%: +72G/turn
Calendar [might as well] is a 2-turn tech, so 1 turn @ 0% then. Could tech in 3 turns @ 50% but I trade in a good overflow for a very small amount of gold. Also queued up:
Currency[2] -> Code of Laws[2] -> Civil Service[4]
There may be some discounts once I start these.
Settler [with Spear] en-route to re-establish Ivory Tower [Mark II]

Turn 118 [1160AD]
Cheek!! Ioan offers peace!?!
Actually, begrudgingly, I'll accept. I can settle Ivory Tower II without fear of immediate razing [Settler arrives in 5 turns]. I can also get a fair few of my Cho-Ko-Nus out ready to assault Laur - he's still at war with Nicolae, so there's hope of only a token force in that city when the enforced peace ends.
Economy:
100%: 167 beakers @ -55G/turn
50%: 83 beakers @ +11G/turn
0%: +77G/turn
At 100%, Calendar completes in 2 turns with a fairly hefty 98 beakers overflow into Currency.
Demos:
Umm ... 4th almost across the board [I'm reading that as my cities are balanced]

a positive spin anyway
Turn 119 [1180AD]
As hoped, loan's withdrawn troops from Laur [his cheeky border city] - to fight Nicolae I guess ... umm, no, he's made peace with him too. And Nicolae's declared on Sareln ... again! At least I'm keeping him sweet by accepting any deals he sends my way.
Calendar completed @ EOT, and Currency is now a 1-turn-tech [after 1 turn @ 0% first though ... ish]
Looked again at expansion options to the South-West. If I shift Spam Cottage south [to take in the Crabs] I can squeeze in Elgin Cottage [2nd marble tile ... geddit?!] to share/take over the Corn tile from Ivory Tower II [4 turns from settlement]
I could be greedy & move Spam Cottage 1 tile West to take in the already roaded Corn ... and there's a good blocking city spot which takes in further Pigs and a 2nd Horse tile North & West of that Corn

Turn 120 [1200AD]
With Calendar completed, am moving Workers in place to bring those Plantations online to raise the happy-cap, and the Gold per turn.
The economy is improving:
0%: +71G/turn
50%: 88 beakers @ +1G/turn
100%: 176 beakers @ -68G/turn
So 1 turn @ 0% easily pays for 1 turn @ 100% - Currency & Code of Laws will be completed over the next 4 turns with Civil Service following after 4 turns after that

Turn 122 [1240AD]
Currency in .. time to queue/build those Markets
Also founded [or should that be RE-founded] Ivory Tower II - there's a sizeable garrison there should Ioan get uppity at me re-settling in my lands!
Didn't affect the economy too much ...
Before ITII:
100%: 200 beakers @ -78G/turn
50%: 100 beakers @ +4G/turn
0%: +83G/turn
After ITII:
100%: 206 beakers @ -85G/turn
50%: 103 beakers @ -4G/turn
0%: +77G/turn
Still means 1 turn @ 0% to tech Code of Laws the turn after.
Also offered Ioan Open Borders, just so my Chariots haven't got to circumnavigate a couple of lakes .. again [pic taken after EOT]

Turn 123 [1260AD]
Economy:
0%: +82G/turn
50%: 106 beakers @ -2G/turn
100%: 212 beakers @ -85G/turn
Code of Laws completed @ EOT, will queue up Courthouses. Civil Service is showing as a 3-turn tech so that's 3 turns @ 0% [... ish, the Calendar/Plantation resources are slowly coming online]
Was looking at the viability of a city squeezed in West of Craven Cottage's last Forest:
Fish, plus could take 1 Cottage, the Incense, and a Mine from the capital. Anyone care to comment? Is anyone there?

No response, huh? Talking to myself again, eh?
Turn 124 [1280AD]
Code of Laws in, will queue up Courthouses next turn.
Enforced peace with Ioan ends in 4 turns ... if he doesn't declare on me, I will on turn 130
Settling Elgin Cottage next, followed by Spam Cottage, then I'll look again at those Fishes.
