Bump in case people miss this thread - as this forum is pretty busy smile. We're at 8 currently. With some adjustments, we can make do with 8, but I'd love to get us up to 10!

One request: If you have played FF before (know how it works and all) and are not going to sign up... We could always use a couple signups for "designated drafter" in case we get a couple people who can't make it.

Speaking of the draft - I will set the date/time in few days once I have closed signups. Generally, the closer to the start of the season the better, as nothing sucks more than to see your 1st round pick blow out his ACL in preseason week 3.

Agree. Unless there is some hard conflict, I see no reason to draft before the final preseason game. Do you know when rosters have to be fully reduced? If it's after the final preseason game but a few days before the first real games that might be a good time to draft. Normally I wouldn't really worry about that, but with Crazy Off-season 2011 there is some actual talk of notable players being cut late.

What are the timezones and preferred times for the draft? Speaking for myself, I'm pacific time, and would prefer at least 7 pm to give myself time to have dinner with the family. For those that are inexperienced, an ESPN draft usually takes roughly 1 hour to complete - and it's definitely worth the hour to participate.
You can get a look at a t-bone by looking up the bulls ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

I am also pacific.

I'll be back in China when we draft. I don't have my schedule for classes yet so not sure whens good for me. If we have it at 7 pacific it translates to 10 AM for me which will likely be fine. But as I said variable.

What date will you be looking at for the draft then?

Ok, did some checking. Here's the relevant dates:

Friday 9/2 - Final preseason game
Sunday 9/4 - 53 man roster deadline
Thursday 9/8 - opening game

I'd suggest something like Monday night then for the draft. That'll give everyone a few days to look through their roster and make any last-minute adjustment before the first games start.

As for time, it sounds like late-ish evening EST will be best, as it works well for the pacific time people and it's (mostly) not too late for east-coasters like myself. The one person this may be difficult for is Twinkletoes in the UK, as that's quite late for him... I'm not sure the best way to deal with that though, as a time earlier in the day will probably not be doable for a lot of west-coast guys. Between 10:30-11:00ish is an odd time for me for a few reasons, so I'd prefer either 9pm or 11pm (EST) rather than 10, which is 6pm or 8pm on the west coast.

You do not have to worry about anything being too late for me, as evidenced by me still being awake at 7 AM. I don't have a job or anything, so I am all day avalibile.

I can stay up late enough on a Monday if needed - just how late are we talking about it GMT?

Well, if we do 11EST/8PST, that's 5am GMT (9EST/6PST would be 3am), so... That sounds more like go to bed early and get up early Tuesday morning lol. An alternative is to ask someone like regoarrar to draft for you, but the draft itself is usually pretty fun, so it's a bummer to miss out on that.
