My report is here, on my own site.

http://www.dos486.com/civ4/epic8/

My web host shows me lists of 404 errors, and the Epic 8 URL was already tried *72* times before the report went up. eek lol

Also BTW, I played this over a month ago, before the largest part of the CS slingshot discussions, but my game can still shed some light in that department.

Lol, that's pretty funny that I was happy with our start, yet you called it the worst start you've ever seen in civ 4 and spent 4 turns moving away. I actually think the starting spot is better than the one you moved too, because of having more grasslands to cottage, forests to chop and a plains beavers for an early commerce boost.

Interesting. Does it show you WHEN those errors occurred? rolleye

Clearly, all starts where not created equal. Rome got stacks of river grassland, wine, gems and IRON in the capital radius...imagine if you'd had that start with Mali, and gone CS? eek

T-Hawk - you will be interested to know that there is actually a woodhenge somewhere in England! Interesting game, especially the wandering settler.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I played as Arabia, but examined all the starts throughly though and decided I did not like Mali or Japan. Mali's two problems as I saw it was - there was not much food and to found a really strong city you had to settle in the second or 2 1/2 ring from the capital- ouch!

T-Hawk-I think the Moving was a strong move because it provided you with a city a spot that you might not have gotten peacefully (even though soooo did). Thus you could easily put a city or two back where you started. Egypt in a number of games put city # 2 right there.

Good game, Kronoz. Building a competitive economy didn't require conquering Egypt (see my game), but it but it certainly helped. Elizabeth was the early-game GNP leader in my game too. The Financial trait was certainly part of that, but I think the other part is how hemmed in she was. The AIs seem to do better on economy when they have fewer cities. They aren't as good at a human at getting new cities improved and grown, so the maintenance costs bite them harder.

Loading speed is only part of the puzzle. The rest is that smaller images can focus more on specific items and flow better with text. A good example is your image of the Arabian city out on the island. I looked at it about three times before I realized the city on the right was the item of interest.

Quote:Oops, an Arabian revolt taking place in Coventry?? I thought cities didnt flip after being conquered?

They can _revolt_, but they can't _flip_ to any previous owner, unless the rules option "City Flipping After Conquest" is turned on. But cities CAN revolt and flip to a third party who has never owned that city, which looks like it was the case here.
