And, for Darrell:

Well, in my mind, the game would be like PBEM 18. That is, we receive the map with our leader/civ pick already made. It would also be unrestricted leaders, not restricted (the restricted preference was for a player choice setup, I think), so that all the picks would be somewhat balanced.
That, of course, is how I understood things. There were a lot of options being made, so it's easy to have confusion. And I don't want to sound like if I'm dictating things. If someone is unhappy with the setup, please, speak up.

This how I understood things as well.

Either way is fine with me. And if the lurkers feel the need to go unrestricted to balance things out, I'd be OK with that, too.

How do the other players feel about sending out the initial save with leader names replaced by forum names, and colors randomized? That way you wouldn't know which combos the other players had until you made contact (gives an incentive for exploration on a no-huts, no-lairs map).
For playing slot purposes, my preferred time is 09:00-12:00 GMT, with a (somewhat less reliable) second opportunity at 17:00-18:00 and a possible third at 00:00-02:00.
I live in Eastern US timezone, GMT-5, although it seems to be GMT-4 right now when I checked.

THIS!!! Crazy good idea! I love it!
I'm GMT -3 (but it'll change to GMT -2 due to summer saving time in a month or so, not that it matters much), and my prefered playing time is 15:00-16:30 GMT (it's a short window, but I can play consistenly at it) or 22:00-2:00 GMT.

Can do. ETA for map next week. I should have something to show the lurkers around Tuesday, if no big edits will be required we'll have a liftoff not long after.

It would be for single-player, but on second thought I'm pretty sure all players appear in the score from the outset in an MP game. Mouseover shows leader name, civ name, and traits. So Mist could fake out the civ name, but we'd still be able to make some deductions about the leader by looking at the traits.
It's not too early to be talking about a weekend blitz for October 15-16. I think I'm pretty flexible both days.

Maybe you are right... I'm not sure about the traits, but its very likely that the info is there.
Sundays are my best days to try and make a blitz. Saturdays are possible, but with time restrictions.
