[SPOILERS] Bobchillingworth Presents: The Six Million Dollar Golem

Update: Nothing happening. I took a risk and killed a skeleton at 92% odds with wounded Barney and only got 2 exp from the deal, leaving me 1 short of Combat III. Army is healing, waiting for catapults to join up. Kuro still hasn't taken the northern barb city, so I guess he turned his army around- I'll get a floating eye up in a turn or two (adept currently busy casting repair). I need to revolt to Aristocracy soon, maybe as soon as two turns from now (after I finish a WG, so that it can do some work during anarchy).

Settled another city, finally completing a ring around my capital:

Need to get to Aristocracy soon, so that I can get new cities paying for themselves more quickly. Probably will revolt next turn actually, since I don't have anything really important finishing and Engineering is still a little too distant to keep holding onto Godking in preparation for the wonder. I think.

Troops on the Kuro front finish healing next turn. Then they sit around for a turn, until I can get a mud golem into position to build a road to reach Kuro more quickly. So I'll continue the advance in two turns. I'll finally get another floating eye up next turn, so that I can find out where he moved the bulk of his remaining forces (he has about eight warriors in his capital, but that still leaves about 16 unaccounted for. Since he hasn't captured the barb town yet, I wonder if he can even afford them.

Man finish onec for all the war with Curo your army its costing you too much...

Yeah, but I can't just rush in- he still has a very large number of warriors so I have to fully heal my troops or he can kill me in the field.

Floating eye reveals that Kuro retreated his large stack back home, but he has positioned it for some reason outside of his capital.

As you can see from the road sign (hidden partially under the unit list, 1NE of NY Sewers), I'll have a mud golem build one at that tile next turn, and use it to advance my troops two tiles into Kuro's territory. Barney killed another skeleton for another 2 exp this turn, so my WG will have Empower III once final combat with Kuro begins.

I'm also advancing a small stack of 2 warriors, 4 WG and a catapult on that delicious barb city to my north. It's about time that I took it.

Revolted to Aristocracy this turn as well. Demographics were improved accordingly:

Obviously I was badly handicapping myself by sticking with Godking and relying on cottages for so long (especially with a large map / torroidal wrap), but dammit I really needed that production frown

Engineering arrives next turn I think (bulbs), which only puts me a turn behind my initial projection.

Thoth's GNP is disgusting. Granted some of that is from the Bone Palace which he recently built (and which I really should have taken long ago, but was too busy investing tons of hammers in military), but it's still terrifying. I guess he just has lots of infra and aristofarms. I haven't checked his civics in a long time, I should get around to doing that next turn.

Looks like Kuro is making a final stand after all. Those 25 or so warriors are going to be a bitch to kill off, to say nothing of Bambur. Actually I do at least have an anti-Bambur weapon- my named scorpion, who has the Vile Touch ability to wither Bambur. How the hell is he managing to pay for them all? He only has one size 7 city! He isn't even in Military State. It's nuts.

Hmm, actually now that I think about it perhaps I should just pillage him instead of slugging it out, and then kill him after he's forced to delete troops. That could work, although I'll be paying for my stupid army being in enemy territory for much longer than I'd prefer. If only I could build decent mounted rolleye

I'm pillaging his copper next turn regardless of what I eventually decide. Far too little, too late, but at least if he can somehow afford *more* warriors, they'll lack bronze.

Oh also WG are all now Empower III.

Umm... Bambur got mutated when he was built and gained commando. lol

Heh. Kuro actually got a trait change to Raiders a while back tongue

Speaking of which, Bambur also killed Anna Navarre! Despite her being C IV, at least 15% fortified on a hill, and the battle occurring across a river. Oh well, I guess there aren't many animals left to capture at this point anyway. Thanks for serving with the Majestic 12 Anna, maybe we shouldn't have made your killphrase "Bambur" duh

Edit: She also wasn't wounded from that barb warrior seen in the last screencap, who the log says never attacked.

Also, finished Engineering EoT. Gonna start on the Guild ASAP.

Bambur has CV and shock and will finish healing before I can attack. Lovely. Busy trying to figure out how to kill so many warriors, it's so frustrating that Kuro stopped playing to win dozens of turns ago (his capital is literally ringed by barb cities he could have captured eons ago), and just sits and builds warriors. I could leave him alone, but then the game pace will continue to suffer banghead Fuck my shitty civ and it's lack of decent, early mounted (can't easily pillage his tiles... btw, why the hell do boar riders even need stables?), over-priced mediocre WG, stupidly expensive workers, and inability to upgrade anything worthwhile. I can't even beat a bunch of warriors without deploying T3 units. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Oh sure, I could just overpower him if I added a half-dozen new catapults to my stack and a bunch of adepts to insta-heal all the golems / siege every turn, but like hell I'm going to invest hundreds more hammers into this mess.

Meanwhile, Thoth declared on Kuro and captured his sole worker with a single hunter, which Kuro should have seen coming from at least a turn away. Fuck you, Kuro. He even kept it, too.

Annoyed summary: Civ still bad, opponent still terrible.
