Weekend OCC #2

I enjoyed the last one, and others did to, so here's number 2 in the weekend OCC series. I'm guessing Uberfish is waiting for the Warlords patch to put his warlords diplomacy OCC game up. So here is a game for this weekend on Vanilla.

Last time we played a philosophical civ. Some people went for a great person strategy, while a couple of players went for cottages. Both did as well as each other. This time we're playing with a financial civ to mix it up a bit. Will the players stick to their strategy? We can build wonders this time - will that make a difference? I've kept the same climate and sea level settings, but the map has changed to inland sea.

Version: Vanilla 1.61
Civ: England, Victoria
Map: Standard size, inland sea, rocky climate, high sea level.
Difficulty: Monarch
Speed: Normal
Extras: One City Challenge, Raging Barbarians

Any victory is acceptable this weekend. I figured we'll play a few more "normal" games before the wacky (or even whacky) variants are pulled out. So give it a try all you OCC virgins out there. It will only take a few hours. Read the last thread for some strategy ideas. Have fun!

I would have preferred for you to give us the victory condition and everyone going after that specific condition. This makes it better for comparison purposes IMO. Anyways.. Ill play this one.

I'll see if I can play this one to completion. I still hope to finish the original one and report it.

Looks good, I'll give this a shot.

OK, but we did space last time and uberfish has a diplomacy scenario for next time. That leaves conquest which some people don't like and the other conditions are reliant on getting a PA (which we can bring in in later games). So I figured it better to leave it open.

I played this one to completition. I'll post a mini-report later.

Altough certain things about my game strategy and result can probably be inferred from this choice screenshot:

Think I have the fastest finish locked down for this one.

And yeah, I am waiting for warlords patch to put a scenario up.

Didn't quite live up to the name as it's taking more than the weekend to finish. "Few hours" my buttocks. lol But I can play the teaser game just like Blake:

Will it beat Uberfish's finish time? Stay tuned. (But probably not. wink )

Well, I finished in 3340 BC. Never said that I won!

I researched BW (thank you hidden resources for this silly guessing game,) started a fishing boat and went exploring with my warrior. The third hut popped hostile warriors. I didn't think much of it until they showed up at my borders having made a direct beeline there. BW wasn't in yet and I couldn't build another warrior in time.

I thought I was still in the grace period, but I guess hut barbs on raging don't follow that rule. This means that the only safe opening is warrior first as the AI could have popped a hut on me too. I seem to have no luck with these weekend OCCs but, as I said in the other thread, I don't mind being killed early now and then.
