To get the hero (from the first page)
Quote:At the beginning of the game you have 0.9% chance per turn (while the AI has 3.8%!)

May I disagree? You obviously assume that:
- at the beginning of the game you get 3% chance to get a hero.
- but if the random hero does not match your fame level, he's gone and you waste the chance. The right hero has a chance of 10/34 = 29% per random throw to appear. Otherwise, no hero.
- multiplying 3% by 29% gives us the final result: 0,88% of success, rounded up to 0,9%.

The small mistake in that: the random throw happens 10 times if the choice fails. This gives you hefty 97% chance of not missing a suitable hero when the opportunity knocks at the door. So the final chance is 0,97 * 0,03 = 2,91%.

Interesting!
I must have missed that.
Where did you find this reroll?

in the tweaker i gave a staff the "DOOM equals CHAOS" ability. Doom is displayed as "ignores armor". after attacking war trolls with it, they showed an additional hitpoint in golden color. it was darkened, like a lost hitpoint. and after waiting they regenerated it, and now had 1 more total hitpoints (the additional one displayed next to the others in golden color like a bonus).

the attack (strength 8) always did exactly 4 damage. it seems the ability is not "ignores armor", but automatic half damage (as the description for the CHAOS ability says).

something seems to be wrong. what is it?

Neat!
I've got no clue what's wrong, but it appears you unlocked some hitherto unknown magic! smile

today i was trying to trigger the "gift of the gods" event in order to get a random item. but it only lets me get an already existing item (or a blank one), and neither doesn't give me crystals for destroying it. is there a way to make the engine assign a random item (itemdata.lbx) when (or before) triggering a gift of gods event? (like i guess it usually does)

also, after playing about 1k rounds of test games with fame 10k+famous (and 20k gold) i didn't get a single item offered to buy. do you have any clue why? edit: *lol* immediately after writing this, i started a new game with fame 50 and got an item offered to buy in round 2 =) edit: with 50 fame and no famous it got regularly items offered, as expected.

One of the parameters of a "gift of the gods" is the item-number.
The item-number is the number in the Items-list that should have an item there.
It should refer to a (any) slot that is not used yet.
(Otherwise you get someone else's item or a blank item.)
To mark an item as being used, it should have a non-zero cost.

Sounds like an overflow. wink
It appears that 10k is too close to the maximum signed integer of 32767.
I'd stick to at most 3000 fame to prevent overflows from happening.

My best guess: Ability flying is for combat purpose, movement flying is for land movement. Check the Wind Mage (he can't fly in combat, but does in the map thanks to Wind Walking), so we can create a new unit able to fly on the map, but not in combat or viceversa.
Only the people crazy enough to think they can change the world of Arcanus and Myrror can do it. rolleye
