SGOTM 3

SGOTM 2 is scheduled to end at the end of November. There is a team of RBers playing, under the team name "The Real Ms. Beyond", including our captain regoarrarr, BeefontheBone, Compromise, ruff_hi, Snaproll, EL_OSO, Zalson and I. There are also a number of other RB members playing on other teams as well.

Now, SGOTM 3 as been announced. Information and signups are found here. If you are interested, you can sign up, following the template laid out by AlanH. If you have a group of friends you would like the play with, you can signup with them. If you wish to be sorted out into a random team, you can do that too. Furthermore, it is unlikely that all eight of the members we have on the team now will continue on to SGOTM 3. If anyone has any interest on joining us (if we decide to continue with SGOTM 3), let us know in this thread. Previous Ms. Beyond members will probably get first dibs at the team.

Something that may dampen interest in this SGOTM for RB members is the use of the HoF Mod. I am not certain on this, but players may HAVE to use this while playing. We could probably discuss whether we wish to continue to have a RB team in this thread. It would be rather pointless to discuss in the SGOTM 2 thread, especially since other teams cannot access it.

EDIT: Another possible discussion topic would be whether to play using Vanilla or Warlords...

Hi All - I'm not playing in the SGOTM3 for any teams. Its been fun if a bit slow :D
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Unless I suddenly regenerate an interest in Civ (Medieval II is distracting me, along with Deadly Rooms of Death) I don't think I'll be participating - the current game has slightly put me off, because an interesting starting concept has turned out to be a bit of a chore to actually play....

I have confirmed that the HoF mod WILL be used, and MUST be used. This does disappoint me, because I'm not a fan of mods. I only use patches. I still have an interest in playing, though changing from mod to no mod whenever I play a turnset in SGOTM3 to playing an RB tournament game will probably become tedious.

Loading a SGOTM save will automatically load the HOF mod (if you have it installed). If you try to load an RB save with the HOF mod loaded, the game will automatically unload it

In that case, I see no reason not to go ahead with SGOTM3 smile

Thanks for the clarification (and awesome work with the maps), Gyathaar.

If there's an RB group going for this game and the mod is fairly unobtrusive, I might be interested. This would be my first succession game, though, so I'd probably be a little rough.

I've signed up for the SGOTM. Compromise has also shown interest in moving to the next SGOTM as well. So that gives us three players. Is there anyone else who would like to play? Newcomers are welcome.

So, let us know what you think of Medieval II when you get a chance. Maybe in the general forum, especially if you can give us a short run-down and a comparison to any of the other Total War titles you've played. I loved Shogun and still get lost in it once in a while; maybe its because Shogun spoiled me, but I've been afraid to try any of the other titles.
Give a hungry man a fish and you have fed him for a day, but give him a case of dynamite and soon the entire village will be showered with mud and water and hard-to-identify little chunks of fish. -unknown

I signed up. This is going to be a tough game (from my perspective), with lots of fighting, if it goes off. The starting position isn't that strong, either. Where do we talk strategy? It seems to me this is one game we don't want to go into without a plan.
