Why would you not use the engineer to rush the elevator?

Instead he could have hand-built the elevator before fission, thus getting the elevator bonus for the parts he built between finishing the elevator and researching the last techs, but wasting the engineer.

I am surprised at the low AI tech pace on this map. Maybe inner lake, high sea level, rocky climate gives poor terrain for cottaging. I mean taking computers with liberalism on monarch with one city !

The AIs in my game seemed extremely uninterested in Paper, preferring the Nationalism line. The only one who had it for a long time was Izzy, but everyone hated her so it didn't get traded around.

Soooo is correct: in the time it took me to research Fission and Fusion, I finished the Elevator and a couple of parts. I just wonder if I would have finished more parts by building them during this period and rushing with the Engineer.
