Scenarios

Disregard the comment that I made... Normally I would edit it, but it makes Kodii's statement kinda look dumb lol

Initially, I found Epic speed really slow but now I find normal too quick. There is no pleasing some people and sometimes there is no pleasing the same person! rolleye
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Speed doesn't really matter to me. I play both Epic and normal in my SP games and quick in my MP games so I am comfortable with all speeds.

I would definitely vote for Warlords and think that the low turnout for the warlords games was due to the games themselves not being that interesting. With a combination of people (including myself) who did not have Warlords yet.

I'd play either, if the games / scenarios were interesting

I think Epic is really slow. Taking 32 turns to build something takes a long time....Normal is ok cause it's Normal

Warlords v. vanilla, epic v. normal speed, Adventures v. Epics ... It's all good. Hey, its "Civ." Name me another game where you could even HAVE a discussion like this. smile

Well said! I think that Antoninus just summed up the thoughts of all of us at RB.

Thanks, Galileo44. I'm not very good at this game, but when I go from normal to epic speed, for instance, it directly affects how much I warmonger with my neighbors. So it affects my strategy. When I move from Vanilla Civ4 to Warlords, I find myself focusing on the differences between the two versions (do I need the Great Wall, are we set on raging barbs?), which therefore increases how much I think about strategy. And the great scenarios created by Sirian definitely increase the strategic thinking, whether they be Epics or Adventures.

Civ is all about strategy. So anything which increases the strategic thinking, and keeps me from running on "auto pilot," increases my enjoyment of the game. Think about the game if we had no scenarios, only one speed, one victory condition, and no Warlords expansion pack. How long would it take to start running on auto pilot?

That's why I say, "Its all good." nod

I prefer epic over normal and 1.61 over Warlords, but for me I will play any game that real-life allows and that seems easy enough for a player of my ability.

Maybe we need an epic with the variant being using the same starting position but choose your own speed, from quick to marathon. Lately, I've been enjoying the quick speed whereas before I would've counted myself among epic fans. Now I'm not so sure.
