Need for Speed: Ichabod & Ravus chasing the Dream

Ichabod Wrote:Construction -> Sanitation sounds nice. We have to focus on growth and in ways to come from behind. Aristofarming everything is a good option. BW could be teched before sanitation to help me with the annoying jungles (especially the one on the pigs), but its not a mandatory thing. It's also a prereq for Sanitation.

Writing could help you a lot, since you are doing all the teching. Currency could enable gold trades so that I can gift you all my gold to sustain your 100% research with the academy bonus in your cities.

I think construction -> Sanitation -> Religion is a good idea. Hunting could be teched somewhere too (we have furs and deer, I think), especially for the hawks.

I'll keep spamming warriors/settlers/workers for now, with the odd elder council/work boat here and there. My happy cap is low, so I'm better off stagnating my cities while building with food and still using the best yield tiles. I'll have dye next turn (so my city won't be unhappy like it seems, it's only due to the EoT) and gold in some time.

BTW, I think you should keep in GK, no need to go for aristocracy.

So, I agree with going construction next. Afterwards we need to think about getting BW or sanitation. CoL was finished in my turn, so you can pick the tech next turn!

Yeah I chose to go BW > Sanitation because I can't spot many places that can be farmed away from rivers in your land. Plus Masonry is just a really unneeded tech.

The ability to chop jungle should help you and we may get lucky with copper.

I also realised that turn 70 is close. Thats when I change with adaptive right? I think at this point I need to go Financial. I also realised I have only a few turns to get the most out of Expansive so the Desert city is now building a Settler. It didn't have any improved tiles left to work if it grew anyway.

Isn't philosophical your adaptive trait?

I didn't remember about needing masonry. Good call on BW -> Sanitation.

Is it Phi? Damn need to check that

The Wiki says it is Phi but i've learned not to trust that thing. I'll stick with making one settler for now and not trying to pump out two. I only have the site for one mapped out correctly anyway.

WARNING: All hands on deck, Bonekiller the Centaur defending Hippus lands spotted a Malakim Griffen while scouting!

Due to their +50% vs mounted units he turned tail and fled. Double bad for us the Griffin appears to be training itself up on Barbarian Skeletons while staying safe on a mountain peak. Due to the peaks and lakes everywhere it looks like we are now going to be choked by a SECOND team.

*sigh*

we really are the unlucky sods in this game aren't we.

Luckily the griffin from the yellow lands is scouting around the areas but that makes it hard to snipe and kill with 1 move warriors.

I've got the first tailor up and running and man can I grow into large cities this game. It's awesome the growth power of the Kuriotates. Second Tailor is being created and the road to the Hippus is nearly done so we should be able to trade soon. Sanitation is also nearly done.

The two spots I have chosen for cities seem good. The Eastern one most of all, managed to scout a bit with a centaur but can't go too far. SO MANY ANIMALS. No wonder a Griffin is the only thing to manage to get to us. It must have been jumping along peaks and lakes.

If we can knock this Griffin out and I can found my two cities we will finally have a defensible back bone. Bonekiller will stick around in the south and try to snipe the Griffin on the counter attack but the Griffins +40% vs Mounted Units is a hard thing to overcome when it's full strength.

I have spotted quite a few huts now that I can use the Centaurs to scout around the nation. I may pop out a scout just to grab them before this Griffin does.

Oh and on a last note the RNG god smiled upon me again and one of my mines popped out some Gems.

Awesome.

Nice!!!

If we can keep centered around getting only the absolutely needed techs, we may still be able to do something in this game!

My next settler will go West, most likely. I want to discuss some things with you later, Ravus, so we can plan for the turns ahead.

No worries use email or this, which ever is easier to post thoughts in.

So next we run up the Religious path? (writing > Trading > Religion)

I can send a spare Centaur down to your capital to scout out the western area. I'll delete my signs on city spots so you can post your own and i'll defend near there.

Also can you delete the sign on the desert city tongue I keep forgetting to ask.

I think as long as this Griffin doesn't do much damage we can make ourselves felt with Mounted Archers.

Got rid of the sign.

Nice going about making the road between us. When we get a trade connection, finally I'll be able to grow my cities a bit more.

I had a 30% shot against Jkaens gripphon with my mobility warrior, but I decided not to take it. I was afraid of giving him more xp and losing my unit. In the eot he fought a skeleton (most liekly), and is down to 3.2 strenght... Probably has enough for a combat 1 promotion... That'll be bad...

Damn, I think I should have attacked him! I need the monument in Parana to be ready as soon as possible to make it easier to see where the damn gripphon is...
