Alliance GvG

Frostraven put a post up about having alliance GvG (unrated) nights in the alliance thread.

Would be a good place to practice even if we guest people or use heroes to fill extra slots and get people who may not normally GvG to try it out in a more friendly situation and maybe get them to want to GvG more often. thumbsup

Considering the PvE nature of the alliance and the way the topic is worded, I have to say it's probably a better idea for the people in the guild who have said they'd like to try GvG but don't have the skills, experience, etc. to participate.

well if we're gonna practice splitting we might as well try against the alliance even if they are inexperienced. We're not that much experienced either. HRK does HA runs and I have no idea how good they are at GvG. So we might get some decent practice runs in to try and understand the idea of splitting and coordinating the split teams.

I'm with wyrm in that it's important to make an even-more-casual PvP option (and the thread suggests that). Where people might be able to take their own individual variants of a balanced build based on unlocks and preference, rather than a really tight team build. Just specify some generic roles (damage, healer, flagger, shutdown/utility) and let people fill them, and throw on heroes as needed instead of waiting in the hall for hours. [Image: rolleye.gif]

I guess interested RBers should post in that thread, though my weekdays are often shot other than our RB tuesdays and fridays.

Well why shouldn't we do it? We could just get the normal people who run and have the skills unlocked and try out the builds that are being suggested. Isn't that what practice is? It just gives us another option to try out different team builds.

Well what ever. I just see it as a way to practice. Maybe I'm wrong.

No, you're not wrong. GvG is GvG and, at the very least, it'll give you a chance to get more comfortable with your skill bar and the layout of the halls. However, you also have to realize that the people who have expressed interest so far have been people with little to no GvG (or even PvP in some cases) experience at all. If we take an already proven build in against them (referring to the pressure cooker we've been using) we're going to wind up with similar results to when we fought the lower ranked teams using heroes; they may get a kill or two but it's pretty much going to be a one-sided battle.

This looks to me like it's more about having fun than it is competition. If we go in competative (which is kinda what we'd be doing if we ran our build in it) then we might ruin the fun for other people. However, if another guild says they'd like to pwn us or whatever, then I would have no hesitations running the build against them.
