Another vote for Vanilla.
Sullla,
I am also a newcomer here at RB, but I'm not as new as you might think. I've been reading RB reports for the past year and a half. Skiaplg may be in the same sort of situation. I know from experience that you can get a lot of experience without posting anything at all.
P.S. I was hooked on Civ4 by reading your walkthrough. Since then I've read everything in the Civ4 section of your website, as well as Sirian's.

Hi skiaplg,
skiaplg Wrote:I may have been in this community for only a week, but i've played Civ 3 for about 4 years and Civ 4 for about One. So I'm not really a "newcomer" to anything but this forum. I think this is the point Sulla was talking about: You may not be new to the game, but new to this forum and its community. And while you might know us from reading this forum and browsing our sites, we don't know you - and this is a problem when trying to organize a tournament event.
When Sirian, Sulla or sooooo announce a tournament event, I know what to expect from it in terms of quality, balance etc., roughly at least. I've played a lot together with them, and read about their games, so I know something about their gaming philosophy and how they design and balance events. You, on the other hand, I don't know anything about, not even from forum posts. The problem is that my spare time is very limited, so I'm very hesitant when it comes to sinking time into a CIV event, and frankly, not knowing the sponsor of the event increases the risk for me unacceptably. So...

...this is not really an option for me, no offense meant.

This is obviously a problem, but you could participate in soooo's event and report about it. This way, we would have a chance to know you better, and maybe you'd get a more enthusiastic response the next time you try to sponsor an event.
I think Sulla was right when he proposed that maybe you should spend some time interacting with us first, so we have a chance to know each other better, before starting such a big task as organizing a tournament event. This is sound advice for all (web) communities, by the way.

You can't wait 1 or 2 days when you've already been waiting 3 months?

I would love to try it, but if its up on sunday or late saturday forget it. I have school, and the only day I can squeeze time in is Monday, and only an hour and a half. This is why I usually play me games on "Normal" speed, because I can't fit more in. "If" the game is posted tonight or Saturday Morning, I would be glad to participate and report. I have the same problem you have about getting some time in for Civ4 ( I used to hae more when I started with Civ3, sighs). Hopefully The event will be clearly posted soon and I'll be able to participate.

I think they give you about a week to play and report your game, so if it comes out on Monday you don't have to play it right then.

Also you can quite easily play the game later and give a nice report on it. It'll certainly help people get to know you better as you and they discuss your game afterwards etc

I would love to play the game, its just i wouldn't be able too... too many rules.... I'll breack them for times then lose because of -40 points So I won't play it. If anyone coes up with a game with less rules or more interesting for me (I don't particularly like the English), I'll be sure to play it!
