Looking very good/interesting. Apologies for my brief absence, I'll get the sandbox updated and ready to run any build order/combat/settling sims that you need done.
I agree that it's somewhat starfish-y, but the important thing is you can put one good defense city on each gap, so putting ones up for your 2nd and 3rd cities and then strengthening them, you should be safe internally for quite awhile, which would be very nice. The only problem seems to be that on Kyan's side, there's no conveniently placed hills near the peak line opening. Of course unless you did decide to settle on the plains hill on his side, but that's only if you're into some aggressive pink-dotting or not.
Ceil's side should be fine though, just settle on one of the grassland hills, put troops if needed on the other hills, and then he has to attack through the hills/river defense bonus, or get throttled to the opening towards the west. Which I'm sure our new good friend Sam could have some surprises waiting for him if he did try and go around
Speaking of Mr. Sam, konnichiwa, and I look forward to your wonderful guidance and tactical schemes as we go forward in this endeavor. *bows*

This is a fair question, and I guess I should explain my reasoning. Okay, first, I'll make some assumptions; Kyan is working the forested plains hill, so at the end of his next turn, his next warrior will pop. He might decide even with the backstop that attacking is too risky, if so, fair enough, net neutral. But he'll probably attack, his 2.2 warrior having okay odds on my 2 warrior.
If he attacks, there are three outcomes, really good, good, and bad. In the really good scenario, our warrior defies the odds and wins on the defense, in which case I retreat to heal and promote, and Kyan has two combat 1 warriors to deal with. In the good scenario, our warrior dies but Kyan's warrior is damaged badly enough that Dazed can take a shot at it without worrying too much about damage. In this case we have Kyan with one fresh C1 warrior and Dazed with a victorious warrior. Depending on where he found Kyan's scout, Dazed either has two or three XP on his warrior, if it's three there's a good chance that winning against Kyan will get him enough XP to promote to shock.
That's a chain of ifs right there though, based on what I think of Kyan and Dazed. What if the worst happens, Kyan kills our warrior without taking much damage? Well, thanks to turn order Dazed will have a chance to either try the shot or take to the nearby hills, either way, he's some chance of still choking Kyan. Either way, though, who does Kyan see as the main threat here? Annoying little no-promo boy who bumbled into the rice and lost, or the MP vet with the combat record of success and the Imperialistic trait? Hopefully, Dazed gets the bulk of the ire. Either way, we're safe, we will have an axe out in time to face anything Kyan beelines toward us.
This strategem seems risky and it assumes much of the enemy...but it gives us a chance to live and die upon the glorious fields of battle. It is then a good plan, Commo-San.
Thanks Sam. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter? I intend to run these sorts of risks often, as we're sandwhiched between two very formidable rivals, conservative play will not work.

Or, then again, Kyan could be really disappointing.
No new warrior, no attack, Dazed backstopping...okay, looks like pillaging the camp it is. See above thought process, all still valid.

It makes sense: I bet Kyan is building his warrior but it hasn't finished yet. And dazed is going to take the opportunistic role by keeping his warrior out of harm but ready to kill off whomever the victor of a Kyan-us battle.
After we pillage the camp, how about going towards the silv? Maybe we get lucky and trap the worker.

I'm not sure if I'm relieved or exasperated. Kyan was working hard on pushing out...a workboat. Heh, well, it's probably the smartest move, annoying as it is. Pin is right, we'd like to go towards the silver, but I'm not sure how to convey that to Dazed.
Our people know about Hunting, now, at least. So those deer thingys can be encamped? How odd. Our scientists are now all off getting excited about the prospect of husbanding animals.
...Commodo-San's humor being put to the side, our warriors know what to do with this knowledge.
Right. Also of interest, Ceil finally showed up with his warrior Ogg. I am somewhat less than impressed, lad.
Seeing no point in engagement, I turned to scout out a bit more of the local area. Nice, more sheep. Animal Husbandry was a good tech, we can eschew agriculture until after the Oracle I think.
That is a very long time without rice, Commo-San. It is my hope that you have knowledge of what you are doing.

Even if we could, his warrior is in poor position to help. I think we should move SW, and if Kyan isn't careful then his worker is dead. Also, dazed being on the plains hill is helping us by preventing Kyan from working that tile.
Poor guy is probably going ballistic at us right now.
Edit: Heh, just realized Kyan can always move the worker straight into Ogrimmar. Well... dang.
Maybe we should just move our warrior towards dazed? At risk of pissing off everybody -- but hey, that seems to be one of my strengths in these games.

Bit of an issue there, as Kyan did make another warrior and killed poor Ursa, and had his Burning Dawn Grunt killed in turn. The big question is what we'll see next turn, if Kyan jiggered things for enough overflow he could get slightly hungry and build another warrior in 1-turn, allowing him to (probably) kill Dazed's warrior.
No matter, we're out of that for now at least. Next up, will Ceil try a choke himself? Will we make it to Hinduism? How about that copper settlement? Join us next week for "Life and Death on the Starfish of Rice and Mutton".

The pillaged deer was a noble sacrifice on their part.
