[SPOILERS] Novice and SevenSpirits play Suleiman of Korea

Discussion with Seven:

Seven Wrote:I feel dubious about settling the jungle site right now - I just don't think we're prepared to settle it right now, it has no first ring resources nor even a 3f tile, and we can't chop a monument until a few turns later and then it's still useless for 5 turns.

I am thinking about settling the north end of the island, clam and corn. Maybe on the forest so they're both first ring, and bring Anagram along? I dunno. I'm too tired right now. smile

novice Wrote:I don't know. That jungle city is always going to be a slow starter,
so starting it early seems good to me. That way we'll have some oomph
in the jungle when the others' settlers arrive.

I'm not too keen on a city 1SW of clams - it seems a bit... pressured.
Maybe trek inland, say 2SE of that spot, settling amongst the corn and
cows. That way we'll at least deny the are to others and invalidate
some natural spots for our competitors. We can follow up with a city
3S of that.

Then there's the safe, alright, boring option of settling clams/wheat.

To elaborate on settling inland on the central island: A coastal city there won't get many colossus tiles anyway since Mackoti will win the culture war. We can settle a city 2N of the wheat to serve as a port to our inland cities.

Any lurker opinions?

I only ask this because I'm fairly sure it's been discussed and rejected, but why not the spice/clams site on the plains hill?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

That's actually the site I thought of as pressured. I later realized that Seven meant 2E of that, which seems even more pressured to me.

Turn played. Settler en route to a new destination. None of the alternatives discussed above were chosen.

There's a worker in the galley which can unload in the city next turn and immediately begin farming the corn. I forget, do we have a name for this city lined up already?

Also, I asked Mackoti for 3gpt. Starting next turn the OB will be worth a mere 2 to us (from his 2 island cities) while he'll still be profiting by 9 or more. (And yes this is in part due to the trade route bug which does not seem to have been compensated for on the map as I suggested in setup.) I think evening that profit to $5/$6 seems fair. If he counters with a $2/turn gift I'd be OK with that too though.

It's lucky we want to work coasts, we just don't have enough time to build workers.

No. Handyman Burials might work, but is 16 characters. So I nominate Homely Pits.

This turn was a real micromanagement mess, as Mackoti showed up with a spear, a settler, a chariot and a chariot named "Axeman" on their way to OUR DYES SITE!!!

So like every other turn now we had to change all our plans. In addition we had a GP coming in that might be an engineer or a great mechant, and had to plan for both eventualities.

So anyway we have a settler at eot heading for the northern marble island (I think), and workers and military being shipped all over the place.

Our GP was born an engineer, and will probably rush MoM in our capital shortly.

Love your naming scheme, keep it up!

I, um, incidentally just wrote a script to list all appropriate anagrams (civ techs, 15- characters, 1-2 words) starting with a given letter.

Here are some results I like for I:

Iced Mine
Induce Tao
Inca Rhyme

Edit: but it's pretty inefficient so takes a long time to run as you might imagine.
