OSG 17 Discussion Thread

I'm interested in a game... I just don't have any particular inspiration about variant rules right now. Nobody seems to be jumping up and down about any of the ideas presented so far either.

Maybe we should just play a vanilla game this time?

A vanilla game sounds good to me. I haven't been in on one of those in an OSG yet.

I do like some of the ideas floating around for a Human game (especially as they have yet to appear in an OSG). I'd like to see us do some kind of Human variant, perhaps in OSG18.

A vanilla Impossible OSG would also be a good opportunity for the trainees from OSG16 to join in an impossible game (seeing as how they just finished up with OSG16).

That gives us another 4 potential players, so we may even need to field 3 teams this time around.

I'll propose using the Alkari on a small or medium map. We can skip adding variant rules and just focus on coming to an agreement on how we want to handle the various bugs/exploits discussed in the MOO1 Exploit List thread.

I'll go ahead and put a sign-up thread over at CivFanatics , anyone interested in joining please sign in there, and vote for what map size you'd like to play.

If everybody's in the mood for a vanilla game, that's fine by me. Alkari small/medium on Impossible sounds like fun.

On the other hand, we've accumulated quite a few players now. I'm wondering if now would be a good time to get the Imperium games going again eek We could run a vanilla, small, Impossible Alkari game, and try out a first cut at the exploit list while we're at it. I think we have enough people, the question becomes are people willing to put in the increased time/effort to play and report an individual game. If the answer is no, there's nothing wrong with that, and we can merrily continue on our SG way.

I'd like a revival of the Imperium, given that I missed it the first time around.

I think I have a good candidate for an Imperium, but I was waiting until I had more free time to get the process started. With grad school letting out soon, I should be sending Sirian a PM soon to see what needs to be done.

Looks like this is a busy time for everybody. I know I called for the Imperia to re-start, but reality reared its ugly head, and I'm going to have a lot less free time in the near future. I can participate in SG's, but that's it.

I am still a ways out from getting the Imperium game started. I specifically want to wait until our exploit list gets ironed out. I also plan to have the Imperium not open for a few weeks after it is announced to give people advanced warning, and after it starts to give several weeks for completion/reporting.

That was a nice game, and checking from the B Team, they waived a diplomatic win already. So what´s next?smile

I am under the (possibly mistaken) impression that we're going to take the diplo win, since it would take a fairly long time to finish the game from where we are but the outcome isn't really in doubt and you guys are already done.

What do folks want to do for RBO18?

The Humans obbviously, as they have not yet made an appearance I guess.

The question is, which rules do we want, apart from forgoing an early diplo win, which would probably too easy with the Humans.
