GvG Build: Hex and Degen pressure

This is the build we've been running the past few days and I thought I would write it up for those interested. It was mostly an ad-hoc build Demonclaws came up with when we went from the RB hall running a specific build to the AB hall being more casual and some people bringing what we had at RB over to AB. If I got some of the attributes and skills wrong, please let me know and I'll make the corrections.

The R/Mo is a burning arrow, not BHA..

Me/Mo should have Mantra of Persistance and Spirit of Failure.

On the N/E, GoLe is optional, I guess, We'll have to look into a good other choice as he shouldnt have that many energy problems.

#7 should have RoF, yeah, and take Deny off him for Veil. Without another Divine Favor skill, Veil > Deny because of pre-veiling and the 2x cast timer.

On the flagger, make the attributes
12+1+1 Water, 9+1 Energy Storage, 9 Restoration.
Need all the healing he can get, and energys not a problem for that build if you dont spam skills.

Really good build,

Bu dah dah dah daah Im lovin it.

On 4/30 we did a bunch of games with this build....

Demonclaws(Basin) - Burning, and Leader
Roland - Hammer
Docile(Basin)- Cripslash
Dan (Ex-Basiner) - Necro
Jude - Mesmer
Justin/Rad (Basin) - LoD Monk
Vort - RC Monk
Fox - Water Flagger

Our only even matchup was a loss against a somewhat higher guild, "Is that Your Build?". We might've had a chance with better coordination. The other matchups were fairly rediculous, either people from 5,000 and below that were easily rolled, or we hit rank 128 and rank 87 Legions of the Righteous Nights (actual iQ smurf?). For some reason we held out to 10 minutes or so against rank 128 (Accident Prone) and me and Demon managed to kill a dual flagger team twice.

In that first game there was confusion with people on the wrong splits, and warriors tended to overextend, but people just tended to die because they had a slight combat advantage as well, and monks were either distracted (by hex or other) or e-denied as their pressure went through. Took me a while to figure out how to end the flagger stalemate against an air ele with gust and secure two boosts. The game went to VoD, so half of us went to gank, but a monk came back in time to heal and I didn't get enough snare to stick. After the failed gank there were too many people down to save the lord. Its a shame this got rolled off observe so quickly as its' the one match we could've learned from.

On the N/E, maybe you would want something like Envenom Enchantments for extra degen (up to 12 I think), or Enfeebling Blood as another anti-melee skill.

Ulcerous Lungs could do both tasks, but maybe it costs too much.

I don't think we need 2 hard resses on the main team. We need to either change the war to a res sig (preferred) or give the mes something else.

The latest SotG talks a bit about strategy for practically the same build. One thing of note is that the warrior and ranger are capable of ganking without any healing support, something we haven't seemed to be doing a whole lot of.

Warriors are capable of solo ganking if they bring Heal Sig and Mending Touch or some other skill to keep themselves clean. When you've got a war without Heal Sig you can't gank without healing support.

I've watched the match vs. Lords of Myth a couple times now and I have a few criticisms. First off, just because it was a fairly easy win doesn't mean you can't learn anything from it. Since I'm really not in the mood to try and expand on things, I'll just put it semi-blunt.

Roland needs to pay attention to where the rest of the team is. Overextending is a serious issue and got him killed a lot more than he should have been.

Jude needs to stop standing still while being attacked by a warrior.

Whoever's playing RC (and this goes for me as well) doesn't need to spam the skill to keep the team clean. If someone is only being effected by a degen condition then you can ignore it until their health gets low.

If you're playing the flagger you need to go back for a new flag after you plant the one you've been carrying. It doesn't need to be immediate, you can help the team out a bit or whatever, but as soon as you get an opportunity you should go get a new flag and either keep it with you or put it close enough to the stand that you can get back to it and plant the flag if you need to.

The team needs to be more aggressive when pushing into an enemy base.

At around 12:30, right before the other team resigned, almost the entire team was standing in the same place. Unless you're bodyblocking (which you guys weren't) that's never a good idea, especially when there's a "Fear Me!" warrior right there with all of you.

As soon as you see the animation for Meteor Shower that's your indication to move.

Side note: should have been a GvG report topic for all this.

Should we either have one big GvG-report thread, or a seperate sub-forum? I guess it felt spammy to post multiple reports for one weekend, and it seems half the forum is few-reply report topics as is...

I don't think it's neccessary to add another sub-forum. Remember, we created the PvP forum for all things PvP and so far it's just GvG builds and reports, with a few things about HA or TA thrown in. While they may seem like spam, match reports are an important part of the learning process; but I do agree with you that the current system is flawed. At least that's the impression I got from your post.
