Wait what? Okay I find this fishy. I flew a recon mission over that area only 1 or 2 turns ago and their was no treants there when I did.
Oh wait... Do they have double movement in forests? Godamnit. I'll fly a recon mission over their again to double check.
We should go Drama > Smelting > ?
That way we can pop the borders of your new cities in the East quickly. They are looking to be pretty safe from the main Treant threat at the moment and can become good cities.
Basically At the moment this game is on Defence. We need to get better Military up to deal with these Treants and keep defending while we expand. If We get enough Military we need to send out some Recon or Raider squads because we are far to in the dark now. The Orcs have explored our lands and the Malakim are sitting to our south running hawk missions at us from a Hunter.
I'll pull the settler back to your capital and rotate the Centaurs down their in and out of my borders when I can to upgrade them at least. If you don't need the northern squad they can deal with the Dungeon then go deal with the Skeletons. The Centaurs near your Capital can be upgraded and escort the settler, Once we have the city down there placed the barbarians will focus on that new city. If we wait until we have Drama to settle We can also instantly push the borders out for more defence and view of the area.
I think any other Settlers pushed out are going to go to the South-East. Skeletons look like a breeze after a Treant rush.
Anyway to help you get back on track;
Centaur Plan
Play the part of the techer
Build Gibbon and use Nature III to upgrade marsh, shallows and desert tiles
Build infrastructure to help commerce and teching power
Build Settlers when at max happy and need no other buildings
Upgrade Centaurs and use them as a troubleshooter team
When Borders are secure send out remaining troubleshooters on a raid
Plan tech path, leading towards, Commerce > Magic > Slingshot to Knights > Tower of Mastery
Hippus Plan
Play the Part of Warrior / Expansionist
Build Horse Archers and Kill all the God Damn Barbarians
Build Infrastructure to help commerce or money
Use Drama to push Borders
Expand around all of Centaur borders.
Expand to grab Mana Nodes
Once Borders are secure send out a raiding team
PS you might want to build at least 1 hawk of your own for defence as otherwise you will be relying on my screenshots and labels on the map

I definetely see 2 treants near my western border (forgot to take SSs though ). Remember that I can see the terrain you reveal with your hawks too. I'll build some hawks too, though.
I think Nature III can't improve shallows and marsh, unfortunately. So, I'm not sure if using the promotions on nature is worth it. If we are going for tower, we'd need metamagic mana, since all the mana are pre-improved. Problem is, we won't get metamagic mana with pre-improved nodes. So I'm not sure if that's a feasible plan. I can't remember if we have any non-improved mana node...
Anyway, I'll tech drama and juggle some units around to defend a possible treant attack.

Ah I didn't know about the duel Hawk spotting.
I will check the Nature on Marshland stuff. If not then it will be easier just to get water I and spring the deserts and then wait for metamagic II.
We have ONE base Mana node. ONE. Right where these Treants are coming from. By the time we get It I could be gunning for Sorcery and then dispel all the other nodes and then it's just a case of building the towers in my Production Capital one by one. Divination first, then I could probably build the Elements and Alteration at the same time given our Palace mana.

There's nothing you can do with marsh / shallows, they don't Spring, Scorch or Vitalize. I'm not sure if it's possible to ice them up ( Ilian Temple of the White Hand ) and then make productive, but there's no way you could make that happen without Ilians in the game.

Setting up a new photo account thing is annoying but I will get round to it eventually. Thanks for the input Mist we went with Water I on Gibbon and I don't see us using him as more then a Terra-former/Dispel Magic/Denial thing.
In other news the Treant got what it deserved and burnt. The Forward city is placed to distract everyone. Smelting in soon and I may be pressing South with A Centaur Archer squad if Ichabod Agree's it's time. Jkaens Hunter should have a surprise as one CA becomes 5-6. Hopefully he runs home and we can follow.

Another city is going to be founded next turn. Also one of those city spots in actually ON a Iron resource... worth changing?
I used my 4 unit Centaur squad to run down Jkaens Hunter. I think they will heal now and wait for the Hunter/Hawk to get there to act as their scout.
I went 100% Gold this turn as my deficit is still more then your 100% gold. Hopefully once these new cities grow some more that will change. I selected Taxation as a research goal. But I might grab Knowledge of the Ether as a 1 turn filler to pop out some Adepts to build nodes.
Wizard/Pirates and Vampire/Nomads are now at war as well. Is that everyone now? Oh and Dwarves built their hero. The super defender one. I'm now worried. Could HA even break through that guy? We need some more Recon going out.
You happy leaving my hawk in your Hunter or do you want to build your own Ichabod?

Let's use your hawk for now, especially since I'm not sure if you'll be able to see what I scouted (due to turn order).
My gold will probably get better soon, when I start working the second gold and a money changer is built in the capital.

Most of Mine and Ichabods conversations are via email so, again, sorry for this LOOKING like we arn't paying attention when we are.
I notice that you are having to produce more workers to keep up with the expansion i've been pushing on you Ichabod, do you want to slow down a bit and get some growth and infrastructure in place before grabbing more land?
The Nomads are a lot lighter on defence then I thought they would be. Only Warriors and one priest in their border city. We could risk a hit and run razing if we wanted. And that's with Centaurs instead of your own Horse Riders. They don't even have the Feudalism tech so no worries about a horde of Vampires appearing as reinforcements for awhile.
Pretty soon i'll reach max growth for my capital and then it's out of things to build, we could make a run for a wonder, you seem to be less interested in the Guild as we are grabbing your hero but Guild of Hammers would be very useful for both of us. It also looks like the Dwarves and Orcs arn't going for the Engineering tech needed to get it.

Better to keep expanding. I'll handle myself with the workers.
And I'm up for some pillaging. We need to have some impact in the game, after all. I'll build some HA's and send them to help you too.

Okay a bit has happened this turn;
for a start check out the power jump for the dwarves and orcs. I'm sending a hunter to the other corners as long as one gets through we will know where both are via process of elimination. I want to know where that army is.
Second a barbarian city has spawned. It messes up our dot map but it also allows you to level up some of your Horse Archers if you make a hit squad. By the time you do that and build some more you will have a strong squad. I'm not to sure with both of us completly focusing on the Nomad Vamps when they are the weakest but it's something to do for now and should slow their own expansion.
Third Thoth has switched to Ashen Veil... You thinking he might summon the Demons just to mess with everyone? Otherwise he's just pushing out some Ritualists.
Fourth I get my next Great Person next turn. The question is what to do with it, I can get long term teching with another Academy in a super city, or I can get a short term boost with a golden age. I have to say the GA is tempting at this point. With Taxation in AND a GA I could leverage a lot out of it, not to mention popping out a wonder in the capital.
Extras:
I'm going to pump out a extra few workers before pushing another load of settlers to keep the expansion paying off. I'll send the next settlers more South-West locations. A part of me wonders whether it would be worth clearing out the middle of the map, gaining EXP fighting the barbs and then leveraging the tactical location to launch pillaging strikes from their until displaced and everyone ends up fighting over the central position.
