So, this is my cap. My current plan is to produce the worker and go straight for stonehenge.
Plan is red, then yellow, then either blue or greyish blue, depending on where opposing units are. I should have all my units in the area at that time.
so, irrigate red, mine yellow, then chop another forest.
That should give me henge by turn 23 or 24 or something like that. Puts me behind the growth curve a little, but the REX snowball ends abruptly, so I think it's a reasonable move. We'll see.
Worst case, I have 3 improved tiles and a lot of cash. Well, worst case is that I get run over by someone.
below is a shot of the sushi party we had in the north. The lion wasn't invited, but crashed anyway.
China is up to 50 hammers into whatever it's building, which i don't understand. A worker is 40 hammers on quick, right? It has to be something with food, cause you can't make that many hammers a turn without food at size 1. Did they go settler first? That's interesting. Either they know something I don't (highly probable) or that's a wierd move.
Or I'm not very good with C&D, of course

I joined the "have researched an ancient era tech" club!!!
I will get mining next turn and I'll be cooking with gas then!
Food is high, production is low, GNP is 2nd.

3400 BC has been played.
I met Lincoln last turn (saw a scout).
Current stuff:
1 more turn till my worker, who will irrigate the wheat.
I'm bringing 1 archer and the warrior back, to cover the cap and defend against a choke.
5 turns more til BW.
TT has 1 tech, everyone else 2.
one of TT or Zero (I think TT) lost a warrior, perhaps due to excess sake at the sushi party a few days ago. I'm assuming he and Zero's archer got drunk, played william tell and the archer missed the apple.
Nothing terribly interesting in screen shots, though...

I had my first hard decision to make today.
A lion showed up next to one of my archers. My odds were 97.4% to win if I attacked, with 2 xp to gain if I won!. If I stayed put, I'd gain 1 if the lion attacked and would have better odds - but 97% is pretty damn good anyway.
What did I choose to do?
Interested readers will have to wait till tonight when I will have pictures! (I played it at work during lunch, but I don't have dropbox on my work computer)
When I logged in, I saw the "the enemy is at our border's message!" and I was like "oh crap, i screwed up and I'm going to lose a game where I start with 2 CG3 archers cause I decided to get cute and scout with both of them.
It was Serdoa's scout.
Worker was created after I hit end turn
Pics tonight.

ok, the tension has been rising for hours!! Did he attack the lion? what happened?
the answer is.. well, yes.
97% chance for 2 xp? go go go!!
The result?
.3 strength left!! that's not good - that's 15 HP. Fortunately, i get 42 back when i heal, so I'll be up to 1.1 or so as I run for home.
Not a lot else going on. Next turn, I'll have pics of my worker.. working.
it's not all that exciting in the land of AT right now. No highly promoted anything (well, archers, but everyone has those)
The main worry was actually that I'd get weakened and killed by someone else... but I thought that was pretty safe.
The re

woke up to a new turn!!
serdoa's scout moved threateningly next to my capital... but since he can't do anything other than block tiles, I didn't worry abotu it
I moved 2 units in to chase him off, which he will ignore and run away, of course.
worker started farming, cap is on stonehenge. Farm ends the turn BW comes in (TT just got it), then I'll mine the hill. covering movements are on the screenie
Demos show 2 interesting things:
Someone's soldiers dropped. Someone lost an exploring archer, probably to a bear. Edit: thinking about it, my guess is that zero and TT tangled up north east of me, by the fish/whales/rice. zero killed TT's warrior and then his archer got eaten. So my northeast is probably safe. I think I'll still keep my archer/warrior around the cap, in case serdoa wants to try to mess with me by moving his scout onto tiles I want to work.
Someone else (I think china, but I don't remember) is pop 2. I'm now second in food but still first in commerce.
I grow next turn and will work the fur until the farm is done, then the farm. I want to maximize production.

And we get a lunchtime turn as well!
No screenies till tonight.
I got production insight into TT's cap with my wounded archer. There's a lion nearby, so I may have to run.
China has 80 hammers invested in something, which i assume is a settler. It might be pyramids - stonehenge would already be built - though, i think a settler would be, too, so maybe it is pyramids. It can't be anything else.
TT won't be building henge - why? Because I think he has built a monument in his cap. His cap has higher culture than mine does, so I assume.
I don't really understand (says the guy who is making stonehenge his first build) why he would do that, vs more military or a settler. But then, my initial thought was that stonehenge was a terrible wonder and I'm beelining it, so what do I know?
If the sushi party place is city #2, city #3 is going to be a hard choice. This is a great map, btw, for this type of game. I can see 4 pretty damn good sites for other cities and I can only get 2 of them!!! I think I want to prioritize early health (grains) - I can get happy from MP's.

Turns out, i didn't have any good pics yesterday, but I did learn a lot.
1) TT didn't build a monument. His city has a higher culture because he goes before me, i think. It went up by 2 this turn and stayed 2 ahead of mine.
2) After the turn ended, I found that I had copper in my fat cross, which is nice. I'll talk about where I should put my mil city tonight, when I have pics
3) My wounded archer is maybe going to face a decision next turn - TT has one of his archers in the area. If he moves next to me, he could attack, 3 vs 3.4 (I'm hurt, but have Guerilla I and on a hill) that's a bad move for him, but do I want to take the chance? There is a lion around, still, though I should eat the lion for breakfast.
4) My C&D was all wrong - I was applying values in correctly and the formula was wrong, in any case.
Zero had 28 hammers and now has 40.
TT had 8 hammers and how has 18. Both of those are worker/settler builds, probably settlers, so I'll be late to the party on 2nd city, which could hurt. But I knew that, anyway, doing the stonehenge thing, and I'm ok with it.
TT is putting no espionage towards me, which is a little surprising.
Next tech choices - Hunting->AH. Then wheel/pottery/archery.
Unless I do archery earlier, which is possible.

I promised some pics tonight and a discussion of my potential mil city plans.
I dont want to disappoint my zero lurkers
My archer:
he'll heal to 1.9 next turn. The question is, will TT attack at < 50% odds? Will he buy my "just healing" bit? I really don't want hot war right now. I think that if TT does come near, I'll have to walk away.
The cap (taken after end turn) with my copper :
I don't need it for dogs, but I'll definitely need it for spears to hold off the war chariots which are to my southest. Least, I assume that's where Serdoa is. Gotta get AH, so I know where horses are
Finally, my thought about plants for my mil cities.
These show up as being next to china, and I doubt I'll actually end up there - much more likely, I'll be in the mirror position south of my city. I'm leaning towards the one on the river - 2 extra health is good, plus better hammers. The other allows me to work the gold, which has advantages, but desert gold is a good, not great tile. And since I have to make choices, I'm thinking the one with the better food.

boring turn. Ran away from TT's archer - dunno if I will if he keeps following me. I think he'll have about 20-30% odds if he attacks and I don't particularly want to walk around in the forest with a lion hanging about, so I might just stick where I am and let him come at me if he is nuts enough.
But I also don't want to lose my archer.
Farm done, switched to the farm to fuel growth. I grow next turn, so I'll work the fur again while I mine the wood hill.
3 turns to hunting. it would be 2 if I worked the fur, but the wheat is a must-work tile.
I'll have 5 must-work tiles (wheat, cow, crab, copper and fur) eventually, maybe six if I get horse in the FC.
