Can you see what is going on? Are there are a large number of spiders that constantly return to the site?

Well, I can see the IPs. Right now, for example, it says that there are 130 users on. All but 12 of those users have IPs registered to Inktomi Corporation, which after a quick Wikipedia search seems to be from Yahoo search. For what it's worth, a Google spider is also one of those 130 users, because the software can recognize the Google spiders. So, that leaves about 11 actual users, 3 of whom are registered.

What I want to know is how can Google do something with 1 IP address that Yahoo needs 118 IPs to do?

You can click on the icon next to the active users info to see some more information. On reporting day, you will see that a lot more of the guests are in the tournament forum, for example.
