I think it's a safe assumption. But I guess we'll see smile.

pindicator Wrote:Well -- NEWS FLASH! -- it's a fucking confusing game to someone who's never played it before. Why do you guys even both playing with new people if this is how the game is played? At least give us a fucking primer first. That Bigger & Commodore went days 2 & 3 isn't a coincidence in my eyes: we've got a group of people who are so well in tuned to each other that they've come up with their own quiet set of metagame rules that newbs have to pick up on or get voted off the island.

haha, I love this response. There was way too much "newbie" targetting in this game, after day 1. Not that I'm bitter, but I think proper village voting would be to recognize newer players aren't going to play the way the vets do. I think that was a big part of why Commodore was lynched too. (results-oriented thinking aside).

Well now, as I said in the game thread - so not what I thought I was going to be waking up to this morning.

In some ways it's good for me (tho not good for Team White Wolf), coz I had a complete collapse of confidence & morale over the weekend and was struggling to get my head back in the game. Having the bloody power go out on Sunday morning and screwing up all my plans for the day didn't help coz I ended up reading the WW thread and resenting it rather than doing other stuff that afternoon.

Bigger Wrote:btw, I'm hoping to see a wolf night-kill wolf eventually. Strategically, it would be smarter to target villagers until day 5 or 6, I would think. But its bound to happen even accidentally, eventually.

Your wish appears to be their command. I say appears, there are other possible explanations, but that one is the simplest.

I continued following our wolf thread post mortem, and I will tell you that you were a bit too hard on yourself in there. Reading the game thread from a lurker perspective, your posts did not seem nearly as incriminating as you thought. Hence why you were so low on most people's radar.

Thanks for saying that - I completely crumble under pressure, hate playing wolf. In fact I'd forgotten how much I hate it, I'll likely not sign up for one of these for a few goes again till I forget how being wolf makes me stress out wink uberfish! I hate you! It's all your fault! tongue

Also to be honest I'm a little scared of Lewwyn (not in general, in werewolf when I'm not on his team), so the fact it was him telling me my arguments about Injera were rubbish didn't help my mood wink

Mr. Nice Guy Wrote:Sorry to see that you were on the Black Team's radar, though. Now we have to hope that the game can go on for a long time. Sadly I see a town victory on the horizon, but we can always continue to keep hope.

Go Team White!

I'll be interested to find out why I'm dead to be honest - was it coz they thought I was a wolf, or was it coz they didn't, or was it something else that's spoilery.

Barring some stunning reveals about the power-role setup I think we were always just playing for second place frown Which made it hard for me to keep my own morale up. Perhaps I am too pessimistic about our chances, but a win always seemed too far away. I'm generally not good at the game design/balance side of things tho, so I'll be interested to hear what other people think at the end.

I don't think the village had a wolf read on you. I certainly didn't. I would assume the other tribe read you as village and got you by accident. Speculation that a wolf seer or role revealer targetted you in a previous night seems unlikely to me, although possible.

We're keeping this thread pretty spoiler free, aren't we? I can't really say what I think my other possible cause-of-death is, in that case. Occam's Razor suggests Team Black Wolf killed me tho smile

This is karma for killing me on night 1! :neenernee

Kill blocker is a weak role, but I guess symmetry would suggest that both wolf teams had an announcer, an information role (like Commodore's track) and a disruption role (like Pling's kill block), this should make it easier for village to sort through the claims

Edit: Er, oops, how spoilerphobic are we being in this thread? Just in case ...

following Pindicator's link on page 117: I find it amusing that someone actually went to the trouble to demonstrate mathematically that a seer allowed to send private communications is overpowered!

One needs a thick skin to play WW. And raging agaisnt the dumb villagers might not prevent their mislynching you but it is a good way to blow off steam wink.

It is strange. You always start out looking very villagerish but the longer the game continues the more wolfish you seem.

If you are a wolf and Lewwyn is not on your team night 3 is the best time to kill him. He is silent during the first 2 days but starts to get steam on day 3 and is a good and dangerous wolfhunter from d4 onward.

Yeah that will be interesting to learn.

My opinion about a 2 wolfpack setup are already known.

I think this ties into the "why do we pick on the newbies" discussion too. I dunno about anywhere else, as RB is the only place I've played this game, but we do play it in a very cut-throat fashion. It's part of the game & not personally intended, but when you're the one that the pressure is being put on it can be hard to remember that part of the game is pressing till someone cracks & seeing how they splinter. And often it's not coz you did something dumb/suspicious, but just coz you haven't looked innocent yet. Or coz a wolf wants to see if you'll panic suspiciously & give a mis-lynch target.

I was personally wrongfooted by the Mardoc lynch, that the discussion was shut down so much, otherwise I'd never've brought up Injera that morning. From my perspective there was a large helping of mob-mentality & dumb village in that Day.
