Gaspar: Hey Meiz. So uh... are you a wolf? I feel like that's a good place to start and the honest fellow you are you would TOTALLY tell me right away. Of course, you're always dead by like night 2 so if you have any insights, get them out quickly.
Gaspar: Also, in the rampant speculation portion of the proceedings - Western Neighbors implies there are more than one mason pair. That could be problematic on reveals. Just a random thought.
Meiz: Gaspar, yep I'm part of the village. Seems like the game is once again "out think the GM" format and no role reveals can be fully trusted. We might have two wolf packs and two mason pairs, or maybe not
Meiz: Here's how I see it. Noble hasn't mentioned anything on how the roles are assigned. For example if villager / werewolf is decided first and then followed by the role assignments. Feels strange to not mention this if that's the setup (but this is the "out think GM" - part :]). Impossible to say for sure. Mason role is quite useless when you don't know the alignment of your pair, though... I will start with the assumption that we are both on the same side and work it from there. If we are both alive after half way of the game, I'll simply have to reassess this.
There are cheesy ways to identify our roles to each other from our pm's, but they seem too cheesy even for me
Gaspar: There's definitely a lot of room for speculation. I tend to think NH generally prefers simple solutions, so I doubt there's a 2nd pack or anything like that. I also suspect that the roles were determined after alignment. That still doesn't mean that mason=innocent, but if there is a guilty party in a mason pair it was intentional.
Gaspar: Meant to ask - what was your PM idea?
Meiz: Second last line: You win the game when all werewolves have been eliminated and there is at least one villager alive. You tell the first letters of 8 first words, I'll do the same for 8 last words. Cheap I know :P
<SNIP of Meiz being reprimanded>
Meiz: Zak suggests that Rowain-wolf noted Noble for the pm tricks, after being accused by uberfish. It's possible that Noble picked th idea from my message in here.
Gaspar: Yeah, I had the exact thought myself, that's part of why I asked you here. I don't really intend to stay on Rowain anyway, so might as well feed the zak-monster a bit.
Not that I really know what I'm doing yet - I don't think we've found much out so far.
Gaspar: Man, I really had no idea just how completely useless this role is without knowing the alignment of the other person. It really is completely useless. Though always nice to chat with you Meiz.
Meiz: Yep :] Any good (or bad :P) ideas can be posted directly to the game thread. Then again, I don't see much use for any cooperative scheming at least at this point of the game. Main benefit for regular masons is one player you can fully trust. Oh well... :]
Meiz: Any idea if you being "investigated" could be simply due to us being masons?
Gaspar: I wondered that myself. But last game Ichabod/novice didn't count as having done anything as masons. Not sure if NH can clarify if us talking to each other counts as a night action or not.
Gaspar: Random thought - think Commodore might be baner and that's why he's A: seemed suspicious and B: clearly lying about having no power role?
Meiz: Random thought - What's with the sudden trust? :]
Meiz: Oh forgot to say, I asked NH and us talking is not investigation.
Gaspar: Pretty simple, actually. I wanted to get the thought out but I won't out a baner in the thread, even speculatively. If you suddenly started pushing super-hard on Commodore or even more bizarrely he gets eaten tonight or something, then obviously I know you're fishy.
So it works both in getting a sounding board AND a bit of a truth test for you.
Meiz: I thought it was something like that. Still a bit risky, if you honestly think he is the baner, no? :D I mean if I'd agree with you and was a werewolf, I could simply eat you first? ;]
Commodore was tied on the lynch. As far as I know, the fate was decided by dice. Baner would have confessed at that point?
Gaspar: Yeah, more and more I'm thinking either he's telling the truth or is a wolf. While baner is probably the one role you'd least want to claim, I can't imagine given he could be dead he'd have skipped it.
You'll see I'm voting him now - I'm still not convinced, but I just don't want to talk about it anymore.
And on our interplay - yes I suppose that's true. I suppose to some extent any chatter we have is dangerous as long as our alignments remain unconfirmed. But if I have this underwhelming a power role I may as well try and have some fun with it.
Meiz: Thing regarding Bigger & Commodore tie. Either the black wolves got really lucky, or someone knew (Lewwyn?) that Bigger would die?
Gaspar: Yeah, I agree. I'm highly skeptical on Lewwyn because he also backed off me so quickly, that's just not like him. And honestly, I've played a terrible game - pretty easy to paint me wolfish. But I'd bank heavily that there's a wolf with a double-vote somewhere in there.
Meiz: Btw. Lewwyn mentioned earlier that he has a passive ability, and now that it's one of the ones that Ichabod had. Those where:
Blessed - If you are attacked by werewolves, they will fail to kill you.
Vengeful - If you are lynched, you may kill another player as you die. (PM me with the name of that player)
Tiebreak Immune - If you are lynched as a part of a tie, you will not be killed.
Vengeful isn't that passive, so blessed or tiebreak immune. Would be hard to lie on tiebreak immunity, but then again "blessed" ability is something that he could lie about as a wolf. Or he might be telling the truth, in which case he did not seal the fate of Bigger, personally at least.
Meiz: Actually not that hard to lie about tiebreak ability either, duh...
Gaspar: Yeah, saw that. Its hard to tell what scum Lewwyn would look like because he's never rolled true scum here, just the serial killer bit which is a different animal. I keep going back and forth.
As far as his ability, you could probably even argue Vengeful was passive. Instinctively though, I'd think Tiebreak Immune might make sense as to why he'd want to see a tie - i.e. see if anyone else had a similar ability.
Meiz: Also, if wolf packs have identical roles, he would have made suicide with the claim...
Meiz: Lewwyn said this before he knew Ichabod's roles: "Oh and I'm a villager but not vanilla. I have a power but it is passive and it isn't a double vote or anything. I can't activate the power. But at this rate it doesn't look like it will come into play."
I'd think it's tiebreak immunity and "it will not come to play" is the reference for the landslides against obvious targets = there will not be a tie with he involved.
Notice he also said "I can't activate the power", so I'd say that counts out Vengeful.
Gaspar: Yeah, guess that sounds pretty likely. Must be the tiebreak immunity. Assuming truth from Lewwyn of course.
Meiz: If the wolf packs are really identical (as it strongly seems), we actually have quite nice and proven "powers" to reveal :]
Gaspar: Was actually just thinking that. The likelihood of a mason wolf at this point is pretty much nil unless NH is really screwing with us. I suppose we can reveal tomorrow if there's a mass claim?
Meiz: Yep, that's fine by me.
