Thanks Plako!
Unfortunately the Warrior won't see anything interesting on T0, so I have to make the capital settling decision based on what is visible right now
My initial inclination is to settle 1N. Moving to the plains hill away from the food is way too risky. I can assume 1N has more forests, there also are signs of another river, I don't think there's a chance of finding anything better

1N looks like the sensible move... more land, more forests, and 4 (slight) chances of an extra resource too.

Thought it was logical to reuse the password from the original game in the 2nd chance game It's Hu1cA2
Settled 1N of the start, didn't see anything interesting. Screenshot and more thoughts after work

T1
So while I was at work, the save already made it to me again Here's the T1 screenshot
I started researching Fishing, because my best food is in the sea. I thought about going Pottery first and getting Fin cottages up as early as possible Decided that netting fish is more important, and Fishing speeds up Pottery, so I'm not losing much. Build will go Worker-Workboat
Found the gems this turn. Guess I know where I want the 2nd city... at least in which area
Also note that Commodore still didn't settle - interesting...

Nothing interesting happening so far. Just moving the Warrior in circles
Researched Fishing-Pottery, then Mining, now going for BW. Could go for Oracle after that, still thinking about it

Sorry for lack of reporting... have to play the game called Adobe InDesign most of the time. An extremely boring one, but some people are willing to pay me for playing it, so I kinda have to. The Euro also isn't helpful for detailed reporting (come on England!)
It's currently T45, and the main events in the past turns were that I founded Hinduism, and completed the Oracle last turn. T44 is relatively late for Oracle, but I guess others decided not to risk it with Huayna in the game. I considered getting something other than Metal Casting, like Currency or even Feudalism, but MC is just too important for an Ind leader. I'm on 3 cities, with the 4th coming up next turn. Met everyone except Gaspar/NobleHelium. Didn't bother with the army so far, still have only 3 Warriors, and didn't connect horses and copper yet (but working on it now)
Not much interesting happened otherwise, so hopefully an overview post on T50 will give a good idea of what happened so far and what will happen later

This game is going badly for me, and the worst thing is, I don't understand what I did wrong
This is my land
As you can see, it's a smallish peninsula. I settled every city I could and improved every food resource available, and I'm still dead last in crop yield and other important demo categories. Some of city spots I could settle were poached by Gaspar/Noble, but they weren't very good
I tried to found a city in the far west
If it worked, this would've been an awesome city - but Commodore didn't allow me to have it
So, all in all, I'm dead last in this game, and I don't see how to get out of this hole. A war with horse archers is what I'm going to try

Which order did you settle the cities in, and what did your early game look like?
