So how about player attributes from FM? There's enough of them to last for all the cities we'd ever need.

Can be. The capital should be First Touch, because it was the one I had the less clue about the meaning.

Just out of curiosity, what's your native language? I really thought you were British. No need to answer, of course.

First touch it shall be then.

I don't mind. I'm originally from Poland, migrated to UK about six years ago.

I'd never have guessed. Your english is very, very good (not that I'm a good judge, since mine isn't lol). Mist is our Joseph Conrad, then :neenernee.

And we can rename the starting warrior Pawel Brozek (going by the great FM - not so great real life players). I remember him being very good in Championship Manager 2001/2002. Never heard of him in real life, though.

No surprise, he was good enough to be a top scorer in polish league few times, but lazy enough to waste any talent he might have had and never achieved anything of note on the international stage. Last I've heard of him he played in some mid-table Turkish team. He apparently got loaned to Celtic Glasgow this season though, so he might not disappear into total obscurity just yet lol

On a more gameplay note, I'm getting myself more and more convinced that we should have an all-in attempt at Oracle. Do you think we can make it ahead of Yuris?

It's possible. Oracle is fairly cheap compared to most wonders, so the industrious trait doesn't make such a big difference. What I fear is that we are playing against our traits strenghts. Those chops could be better used on settlers, since we'd be getting bonuses.

And what would we oracle? MC? Forges are very expensive in the early game, especially without industrious.

The thing is - Oracle is the cheapest way to get 'mids. You get metal casting, whip a forge and run an engineer to rush Mids ( or Colossus, or TGL ). We both think there's plenty of teams here that'd like mids, denying them cheap Metal Casting would make that wonder so much more expensive, and it'd give us a small edge early on. As for what we could oracle, CoL sounds good - guaranteed religion and courthouses early on to help us spaming Imp settlers.

Stanislaw Lem's pretty well known.

Stanislaw Lem was writing books long before I was even born, and I'm 30 already lol I'm not saying there aren't any writers out there that are known and translated worldwide, I'm saying that there's very few of them and that majority of polish language titles I'd mention would be completely unknown and not even possible to find in a translated form for an english speaking person.

It's the cheapest, but not the fastest. Getting an engineer from a forge takes 23 turns (23*3=69, you need 67), that's a lot of turns. A decent rush to Pyramids wouldn't take that long. A philosophical leader could do it faster, so Oledavy could try it. But it's too risky for him, since Pyramids >>>> Oracle to Gandhi.

Remember that Gaspar only lost the pyramids to seven philosophical enginner gambit due to Lewwyn messing up their micro and that was after they had already spent a lot of resources on TGLh.

I really doubt someone can pull that gambit off here.

I think we need to concentrate on working on our strenghts, rather than trying to deny them theirs. There'll be a big rush for Pyramids from NobleGas and Oledavy. I suspect that Yuris will put a lot of effort into getting Oracle. To me, that's a good balance of power. No offense to the players, but I don't think they'll be able to utilize this things to their full strenght, so the investment won't be profitable.

We need settlers and cottages. With a solid early economy we can get the later wonders by virtue of getting there faster. I think the only early wonder I'd consider is Stonehenge, while trying to get an early religion and that's mostly because we start with Mysticism and are first in the turn order (with the thought of using the Stonehenge GPro for a shrine, but maybe just getting the religion can work too, since religion already gives us border pops).

I think we need a quick Mathematics here. It'd make each chop a 30 hammer investment towards a settler, almost half of what we need. That's big! And then we get currency to make all the cities profitable. Let everyone else fight for the wonders.
