Books limit

Hello there,

it seems that the human player has a limit to the number of books he can earn in the game.

After you reached 13 books overall, any node/ruins/temple (and so on) will NEVER give you another book.

Do someone know where to change this limit?

P.S. I think this is a limit that could be modded and not a bug to be fixed, however we can discuss about this point.

Yes,there are two limits:the book limit and the retort limit. This places is known ,but i would remember later.
However,with 15 books the discount is so big that it mean you almost win. And with 17 book all spells become free. So,i doubt it need to change.

About the balance, if you start with the maximum (11 books) you have to clear 3 to 6 very powerful nodes (and be lucky) to get 17 books, so you are already VERY powerful.
On the other side, if you start with i.e. 5S+2C+2N books you can't reach 5S+5C+5N .

BTW the limit is true for the opponent wizards as well?

Any word on this yet? I must admit that I'm curious myself about the locations in the game files for both book and retort limits.

For books: 633e6 and 63405- this must be changed simultaneously. Also for retorts: 633e0 and 633fa. The change above 6 may cause the memory corruption.

Thanks for the info- really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can expand the book and retort limits this way- without blowing up my game. I'll watch out for any issues with the retort limit, though.

Yes, in wizards.exe. This is a limit books to get item(artifact) instead of book.

So, you can continue a game after this changes.(and change it back,then continue)

No. There is no limit for items. Just if you roll to get book and you have max books and retorts already then you would get an item instead of.
