To be fair, when I settled Toonces the difference was 5gpt.

But you settled Toonces with 3gpt in NumCities and it cost 5gpt (and if settled now would only be 2gpt due to Magic Currency)
I logged in because I was curious as to what our breakeven bpt was if we run all (mostly) wealth builds.
It's about 150-160bpt. Might be worth considering once we complete a few of these builds regoarrarr Wrote:So currently NumCities maintenance is at 3.30 in Church Lady (3.08 in CJ and BB). I believe NumCities maintenance, as its name completely and totally does NOT imply, also has a city size component.Correct, although it's a small component as you can see, less than 10% of the value. Although that's not what I was talking about in the Sushi game. regoarrarr Wrote:But I think he's saying that when the numCities that displays in the city screen is 5gpt, then the actual difference is 15-20gpt.That's it, because the new city raises the numCities cost for all your previous cities. When you settle City #11, cities 1 through 10 all pay somewhere between 0.5 and 1 gpt each.
As expected, Krill declared war on Azza and it.... didn't go well (for Azza)
Krill took Celadon City and, unsurprisingly, did not offer to gift it to us I'm still pondering whether we want to try to ask for it. Maybe in exchange for some token amount of gold. I don't know if it's worth it since a) Krill clearly won't accept, and b) I don't want Azza to think that we are co-conspirators. We're not - totally!!! We're more like war-profiteers I do have some thoughts on overall meta-game re: Krill that I want to post but haven't gotten around to it just yet
Okay so I took a look at this thread, which, ironically enough, I found by Googling and coming across a post that I made in the Apolyton demogame
Code: NumCitiesPercent = [100 * (Pop + 17)/18] * WorldSize_m * Handicap_m so let's ignore the city rank fudge factor, for now, but let's look at numCitiesPercent CityMaint was 3.38 in a size 7 city (I think), with N = 11. World Size is Large, which is 0.25, and Handicap is Monarch, which is 0.85. So 100 * 24/18 = 133.3, round down 133 * 0.25 = 33.25, round down 33 * 0.85 = 28.05, round down CityMaint = 11 * 28 / 100 = 3.08 so close enough for not being in game. We're not trying to figure out the exact costs, just give more of an idea on how much this crazy city is going to cost. So with a 12th city, the NumCitiesPercent should be the same, but then CityMaint would increase to 12 * 28 / 100, or 3.36. So it should cost let's say 0.40 for each existing city for NumCities maintenance (4.40 total) + about 3 for numCities maintenance and say 6 for distance maintenance for the new city. So a total of about 13gpt if we settle the far-flung city. Of course by then, we may have calendar by then, which gives us some more commerce resources, plus puts some of our angry citizens back in the fields (and allows us to grow further in other cities)
Okay so the real question that we need to answer is what we need to build and priorities.
"What can wait, must wait" "Perfection is the enemy of the good" (There, is that enough cliches to get you hoppin? ) I think that we have to judge our hammer priorities against building Wealth in order to power through Math and Calendar, allowing us to hook up our multiple calendar resources (which should net us at least 3 happies and probably more since we can trade our duplicates to folks, not to mention the increased tile yields, oh and the MoM which we probably won't get but we can at least get some IND-powered fail-gold)) So here is the list of things that are either in our queue or have been talked about needing to be built. I think we need to prioritize these as what absolutely HAS to be built before Calendar. We have like 6g in the bank, and maybe 2-3 beakers in Math. The 2 techs are 963 combined beakers. With the 20% pre-req bonus, that's 802 raw beakers. It looks like our breakeven research is 80bpt, and 160bpt if we put everything on Wealth. So 10t to tech Math and Calendar with no Wealth builds and 5t if we put just about everything on Wealth. So (I think I'm doing this right), every ~100 (raw) hammers of non-Wealth we build means a 1t delay on Calendar. It's tricky because 1 hammer does not quite equal 1 beaker. It equals 1 gold, but then that 1 gold gets turned into more than 1 beaker, since our beaker-gold skew goes toward beakers (due to us having libraries but no markets). Still should be good enough for estimation. What I don't know is what is the marginal utility of having Calendar a turn earlier - we should do some worker micro to get them hooked up ASAP, since we already have unhappy faces in a few cities and there are others that are at the happy cap. Though of course that depends on what turn they need to be there So this is a list of things that we could build over the next ~10t, with their cost in raw hammers * Apostolic Palace in BB - 100 hammers * Settler from Coneheads - 5 hammers (rest come by food / whip) * Settler from OTOF - 10 hammers * (Another) settler from OTOF - 30 hammers * Missionary for Yuri (from WW) - 40 hammers * 2nd missionary for Yuri - 40 hammers * Missionary for new city - 40 hammers * Missionary for Toonces - 40 hammers * Workboat for new city - 23 hammers (remember we're EXP) * Axe in queue in CJ - 10 hammers remaining * Christian temple in queue at Church Lady - 30 hammers remaining * Christian temple in queue at Crazy Plant Hand - 30 hammers remaining * Granary in queue in More Cowbell - 20 hammers remaining I am discounting the newer cities that are making 1-2 hpt. It is possible that we might be able to whip out some things from them that could free up some of the bigger cities to build Wealth. I'll make a post next with my thoughts on what we should build but I'd like your thoughts. Of course.... the clock is ticking down, we've already ended turn and only Yuri is left to go... Quote:* Apostolic Palace in BB - 100 hammers Spoilering my thoughts to not influence you
what about inflation?! you can't just print money to make up for your economic morass!
I think you should grab that island asap. get enough cities there that by the time Yuri notices, its covered in your culture.
