WW14 - The Edge of Reason

Haha, thanks Rowain.

For some reason, I just don't feel compelled to answer every post on here.

Rowain Wrote:For waterbat:

You are a villager

Please answer :neenernee

I am a villager.

In other news though, I really take issue with:

in RL - driving all day tomorrow - might be able to post some disagreements via phone, before deadline. maybe

Looking back, I think Waterbat's restriction may have contributed a little to my suspicions against him. At least it helps explain a couple of his odd statements.

So, to spread the love a bit: Pindicator

Hard to point to anything specific, to be honest, but his response here is perhaps a bit too villagery:

pindicator Wrote:I really don't see what difference it makes. I'm leaning village on both of you, so I don't suspect either of you are going to try to make me a mislynch target.

Rowain asked you to answer a question from the perspective of a wolf, yet you still replied using your villager hat. A bit overeager to emit villager vibes, perhaps?
If you know what I mean.

fun post restriction you have there, waterbat

was actually heading towards voting for him, but as zak says, knowing that restriction definitely puts some of the weirder things he's said in better perspective. Not sure if it can remove all the heat, though.

as it stands, the timing of Jkaen's post declaring both front-runners were innocent is still my best lead. I'll admit that most of my earlier arguments against him are probably not all that well founded...

I'm still not sold on you waterbat. Your post restriction does give you some more leeway, but I would be very surprised if all post-restricted players were innocent. Also I'm obviously not a fan of you right now as you seem to want me dead.

Right now I am not letting you off the hook while others seem to do so. I will issue a warning to Jkaen too though as I don't think he has properly responded to my reasoning for voting for him in the last day, albeit after the deadline. So you don't have to trawl through the thread to find it - here's my reasoning:

You decided to start pushing on me late in the game as an alternative person to vote for, just as Bigger, waterbat and slowcheetah were discussing reads on me. I originally thought that you may be trying to save a friend from the chop, but I also have some inclination now to think that maybe their discussion gave you enough 'cloud cover' to stay away from voting for a lynch of an innocent.

However, I would like to hear some more from Mattimeo and Molach as they have barely posted at all.

Okay.

Writing this on a bus with come-as-you-please internet access so taking some time digging out quotes...

Sorry for not checking in before lynch. Old friend skype'd me so we platooned up and shot some tanks all my allocated PC-time. Got 'off' half hour before lynch, read the posts and decided I'd keep my vote where it was so had no reason to post just that. I have followed chatter in the night so am up-to-date.

Concerning meta:
Possibly last meta-discussion from me, because one nightkill is a strong indicator of just the one wolfpack and no psycho killers. It is still possible, for example if both hit same target (6,5% chance) or if wolves hit lunatic who had protection (happened in Fall from heWWen with no msg in-game) or if one faction abstained from nightkill for any reason or if villager actions prevented nightkill. And with one wolfpack, setup thread means 4 is the magic number, right? So for all practical purposes we are 10 villagers facing 4 wolves, we can expect at most one kill every night on a villager but no 'help' from other killers. This means 3 (more) mislynches, I believe. 1 kill prevention gives us 4. A failed vigilante shot is still 3.

So far we have a l33t h4a0r and claimed vegetarian werewolf...and watcher. So there are normal roles among the weirdness. But after 3 seers last game, and thinking about Uberfish's dislike of certainty roles like seer-roles I suspect that watcher/tracker are gonna be as good as it gets for village. Or were gonna be.

I can't see why the wolves attacked Meiz. Not a lot of content, was arguing with Bigger and Rowain, people were saying 'Meiz is acting strange' and he got votes on him. So, have we got an inexperienced pack again? Or a smartpack who worked out he was likely powerrole? I think I can see a couple other guys who seem more active and hunting.

About lynch/my vote:
I did think it was likely that VM was a wolf, about as likely as Bigger that first night. I never did see him answer about 'obvious innocent' remark and he did not beg or 'go the line' in defense. Perhaps that was a timezone thing, or just how he is used to things. (I hope future mislynchees take the time to go out with as much useful info as possible - now we know that he actually did think and not know that Jkaen and Novice were obviously innocent, but not really why.) About the main thing in 'defense' was the new-guy thing. But in balance:
-He has played other sites
-Bigger the only seriuos other candidate showed good wolf-hunting skills last game (as a wolf finding rivals, but still)
-In truth, as I thought there was a okay chance VM was a wolf, if I moved my vote to Bigger and VM flipped wolf, I would have faced a lot of unneccesary pressure for 'protecting my mate'. A sort of weak argument as it has nothing to do with who to lynch, but I'd just be handing the wolves a mislynch next day - for no good reason. I would have been hard pressed to explain why I switched. Only defend new-guy thing.

About the result, it seems votes switched from Bigger to VM. Having a hard time verifying this on the bus, so just trusting Rowain on that fact:
Quote:(Rowain)
I think we will find (at least) 1 wolf in the late VM-switchers. pindicator, slowcheetah and waterbat. All 3 were voting for Bigger before and switched to VM after zak voted for VM
Now, if Bigger is indeed a meat-eating wolf then this is very significant. If they both are innocent a bit less, why attract attention? Not sold on the 'gaining zakalwe-points' theory. A possible reason could be if there was a wolf among the group with a few votes and they wanted to make sure of a big enough majority that noone would even bother voting for the small fry. Seems Sareln, Waterbat, TT and Zakalwe ended with 1 vote each. Waterbat (and Meiz) had 2 before the great voting shift, Sareln also up to 2 for a while.

Bigger - I think more likely innocent than not, but stuff pointing both ways. Roleclaim is a bit WIFOM, if he is innocent then it makes perfect sense to claim now, but if he is a wolf it would have taken a lot of creativity/ingenouity to make it up, but it sure fixes the situation nicely. I think Bigger hasn't played an uberfish game yet, therefore afraid of seer scan - but fair chance there is no seer at all. Bigger was long leading candidate for lynch - VM grew past him. Rescue from fellow wolves is possible, but very noticable - a wolf going into endgame with such a switch on record will be hanged for sure.

Waterbat - (Thanks for the tool, even though I'm using it against you now).
You defended yourself rigorously, even desperately,

I AM NOT A WOLF
ZAK IS WRONG
shit - what was the other thing i was supposed to add?
LYNCHING ME WOULD BE BAD
but at the time you only had 2 votes on you. Granted one of them was zak, but it seemed a bit ...overreacting? This will be your first villager game if you are one, and to me this (along with a few other posts around the same time) seemed a bit defensive. Also you are one of the 3 VM-switchers.

Rowain, Zakalwe: They appear to be very actively hunting.

Sareln, TT, Mattimeo; Low content group.

Novice: Not always understanding what he is thinking, and the whole restriction seems a bit harsh and mis-lynch-leading. If we fail to find a wolf soon he is half useless all game. Wonder if a vegetarian werewolf qualifies....But also, when a wolf is killed (lynched? clarify plz) he will basically be at square one, we will have voting record to go on but he will have no written record to defend. So actually a difficult situation for us to be in, cant afford a possible mislynch but need to get a read. I did see Lewwyns point about voting for Bigger based on an old "one of these are innocent", if that was a serious vote it was not well founded.

Pindicator, Slowcheetah: Two other Bigger-> VM-shifters. Pindicator was arguing with Meiz a bit (no vote though) and hasn't set off any major warning bells. Slowcheetah has been asking people (too much?) "what do you think/mean about this/that" which is investigative but want to get a read on you aswell.

Injera: I did ping when I noticed the vote on mattimeo (along with mine at the time). Then voted Meiz, before ending on Bigger. Did give reasons why. Still open to both guilt and innocence here.

Finally Lewwyn. Am also curious why I'm so innocent, at this point in game I'm usually "grey eminence" or similar.
Also wonder about this nose business, why did you think Meiz had it?
Other than that, getting good vibrations from those late-night posts, but why post em at night? I didn't get the impression that you were gonna be eaten before those posts anyway. But then I didn't think Meiz would either. Anyway it seemed like what a villager would do.

Have to end now. I'll lay a vote for now, have more time later tonight (train ride, hopefully better connection there) to see what has shaken loose. Voting for one with low content, interested to see some thoughts from Sareln now.

Time tonight, perhaps time tomorrow early, but rest of Saturday is dedicated to Baccus. "There will be Drinks". So concerning werewolves, Give them nothing! But take from them everything!

Sunday should be accessible after my head starts working. And Monday is completely wife&kids-free back home again.

I will politely parry your characterization here. Zak himself accused me of being cheerful on my own mislynch - and i replied that I expected no such mislynch. No fear. So I didn't really feel that I was defending desperately. I DID wish to convey a quick / rigorous defence - as I wished the zak tunnel to be over so he (IF village) and myself (AM village) could get on with the game. The tunnel persisted however, and if i was truly desperate, i would have struck up again with the defense this morning (my morning and the game day's morning).

You mentioned TT in the list of low posters, but didn't join me on TT. I think a few more votes would get a bit more talking, correct? Again - it doesnt have to be TT - if you want me to switch over to Sareln for said reason, let me know.

Here's what Rowain asked and what i answered:

Rowain Wrote:Let me ask you the question: Would you rather like to be on zaks good-side and have me to fend off or vice versa?

I thought he was asking me directly and not hypothetically. So i was getting a post together to say you were adding into it, but then i re-read the context and you're right, he was insinuating a hypothetical 'if i was a wolf' and i missed it.
