Just a guess here - but that might well be because it's a mod and hence modified assets aren't locked?

OK, we're moving on. Random seed got changed somewhere in the process though, I got different pod results this time round.

That is normal. Civ only checks for modified files if there is an admin password or if the "lock modified assets" option was checked. If neither of those are true, you can swap in and out any mod files you want, in PBEM mode without needing the Pitboss workaround.

Not really, you don't get one nutrient spot to fight for with Nic, I get some more credits instead. Nothing major on my side. No idea if/how will that affect Nic on his turn though.
