And so it begins....

I moved the scout and warrior, revealing nothing of interest. We have 18 hours to figure out where to settle.

My impulse is that we settle the riverside grassland hill. It picks up all the crucial tiles, secures a nice amount of riverside grassland for cottaging later, and allows us to settle our second city 1E of the spices.

Wait....shouldn't we have a quechua instead of a warrior?

I dunno, settling in place gets us the opening worker out 4 turns faster. I would suggest settling in place, and moving the capital later to location SE later that would pick up more riverside tiles. We can make a city next to the fish and make it our Maoi city if there's nothing there but coast.

All right, nice to see this train has left the station! I dont' know how much MM i can give to day 1, since work called me in at the last moment today frown

I think if we SIP then we need to get a quick settler out. Possibly even worker -> settler, or worker -> grow to size 2 -> settler. But yeah, we need some specific trials in order to see which way we want to go, and if this would be better than moving.

I think where to settle is more of gut call than something we can nail down in a trial. Trials here are tricky, the fast 1st worker from SIP is hard to leverage, due to the lack of good improvable tiles, farming the FP as the second best tile almost kills the advantage you gained from the faster worker. If/when a faster 1st settler really profits us depends on where we settle him, which depends on scouting info and so on.
I think I like SIP and getting a quick first settler out better than moving to the grass hill, but I have not really convinced myself yet.

what I tried:
If we SIP and go worker->settler it gives us a first settler at T26. growing to size 2 makes little sense, because there is nothing meaningful to grow onto.
If we move to the grass hill and go worker-> grow to 2 -> settler, it is T33 (could also get settler at T32 at size 1)

I too think settling where we are currently is a nice idea. Getting out that second settler asap is maybe the priority.

I personally like moving to the grassland hill. If we SIP, the second city is going somewhere in that grassland river area, right?

That's what I would do, unless we find something better

If we SIP, I definitely think we'll want a fast settler and maybe 2 fast settlers. No point working tiles other than special tiles at the beginning.

Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
