Actually, WB turns out I'm wrong on one point:
WarriorKnight Wrote:That life expectancy of 87 means that TEAM start with 8 health
87 health actually means 7 health and 1 unhealth, so instead of 8-9 forests there are 6-7. Which makes sense since upon closer inspection no spot has 8 forests in the BFC.

That's one option. The other option is 1E, although that doesn't seem smart since that wastes the floodplain (I could be wrong though). It can't be W since that gets coast tiles in the initial 9 tiles, and the only other option that can be settled this turn (NE) doesn't have enough forests. Do we want to pencil in 1S?

If they were 1E, why wouldn't they be working the cows for a 6 food though? (Or does floodplains turn to desert when you settle and thus only give 2f on the center tile???)

GNP - average went from 5 to 9. We know total rival GNP prior to their turn was 22. so GNP of gillette between 14 and 17.
Hmmm, compared to TEAM, Gilette aren't CRE so that's automatically 2 less GNP. They do have to have at least 16 though, due to the palace and city center tile.
waterbat Wrote:only other thing to note was life expectancy for Gillette is 88 - even higher than the 87 obtained by TEAM.
The most interesting thing so far, Gillette are EXP, so they get 2 extra health. However they have to have 8 health to 1 unhealth otherwise the life expectancy would be 90. That means 4-5 forests.
So, let's guess where they settled again:
They have 9 land tiles
They have 4-5 forests and fresh water or 8-9 forests and no fresh water.
Starting area again:
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see where they would have settled. NE is the only place that fits the health, but remember the city center tile would have +1 food, so max food would be 6. In fact the only explanation I have is that they did indeed end turn with 6 food working the floodplain, but changed the tile they worked to a 2/0/1 before logging out (I can't imagine why they wouldn't work the floodplain when ending turn). That's a pretty farfetched theory, but since this is a demogame we have to assume that some people from the other teams are capable of that (and besides, short of stating that starts aren't mirrored, this is the only explanation I can come up with).
Perhaps someone else can find something I didn't? I don't know why they didn't settle in place, they could've gotten a extra EXP hammer by working the plains forest, but apparently they decided against it.

Yeah, floodplains turns into desert, so that can't be 6 food.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the forest distribution isn't precisely mirrored.

Are you guys sure that the starts are mirrored? Their starting choices would make a lot more sense if the starts are not mirrored.

Yeah, it's starting to look more likely that the starts aren't mirrored. If they were, we can do a lot since we have our own start as info, but right now it seems that isn't holding up. That said, I'm surprised we were shown our starts before we picked leaders/civs if they weren't mirrored, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
In any case though, we do know that both teams that have settled already are landlocked and most likely both working a floodplain.

I could log in if necessary, but I'm not paying a lot of attention to anything in this game outside of C&D. Let me know if there's a special time you need me to log in.
As for this turn though, it seems most people are working a floodplain to start, but someone settled on a plains hill and is working a plains forest. Most likely Trolls since they're EXP and weren't accounted for last demogs.
oledavy Wrote:I know we can't confirm until next turn, but could you guys please check to see how many land tiles are in the first ring of the Menagerie Capital. Assuming mirrored starts - which I think is pretty reasonable - moving may indicate they're going for a coastal capital and the Great Lighthouse to leverage Industrious.
No chance of this, everyone has a inland start so no-one is getting GLH with their capital.

<shrug> i just thought we'd have enough people hanging out to capture demos after every turn (including other teams' turns).
I guess the best idea would be to subscribe to the turn tracking thread and you happen to be around when a turn happens, go ahead and capture demos - that's what I will do.
agreed on the bit about the trolls.
Also - thanks for pointing out the lack of CRE accounting for the 2 less GNP.
Hopefully we'll get out and meet someone soon.
