Yes, it's here:

http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showp...tcount=333

It's only an approximation, but 15 tiles to our nearest neighbour should be roughly correct. It could be slightly less, but it should be in that ballpark.

So we should have at least 15 turns before someone could get a Warrior to our capital. Probably more, because:

(a) only 1-2 civs should be nearest neighbours, everyone else will be further away
(b) those civs would have to head their Warriors away at the expense of exploring their own immediate area - either forfeiting their own early safety (no defence) or wasting their time building a Warrior first (delayed Worker)
© one of those civs would have to - by chance - head in the exact right direction for 10-12 turns to even find our borders, when they're just as likely to head in any other direction... plus there's a good chance they wouldn't take the quickest path even if they did head in the right general direction

And remember that as Sullla has said, 3/8 civs should start with a Scout (if Plako has set that up right)... so the odds of our nearest neighbour(s) all starting with Warriors is far from 100%.

TL;DR - We shouldn't have to worry at all about Warriors invading our capital for the first 15 turns, quite probably longer.

Other teams are not going to walk into our capital. The odds of it are just so small for all the reasons Sullla mentioned and more, that if by some incredibly small chance we get warrior killed, who cares. Play to win, don't play to not lose - especially in a game like this.

Moving the Warrior towards that possible NE city location sounds like a plan. Depending on what we find there we can decide what to do next. smile

So cloak and dagger stuff. Did anyone figure out exactly how much useful information is obtainable from the mod website? Will multiple people be able to log in before the turn ends to grab screenshots as other teams play?

I guess this will have to be tested out within the first turns.
Was there actually a download for the latest mod, we are to use?
I was under the impression Magno was still changing it?
Also anyone has a link to that website?

Thanks.

I notice the "Full Of Resources" mapmaking options screen comes up when loading the game, and you can change options. Not sure if it does anything, but that definitely shouldn't happen.

EDIT: Updated IP. See also: Sullla's posts

That screen just means they bundled the Full of Resources map in the mod, and it's the default map. Annoying but that script just does that (it won't cause any real problems).

I'd assume you can delete the map or at least choose another map script in the custom game section, and it won't come up anymore. If not, man that's dumb.

i just downloaded the mod to see if it would work. It doesn't. Here's my procedure:

Run Civ4 BTS.
Select Advanced -> Load a Mod
Select the WebMod1_0
--
then Direct IP connection to address above.
I get the leader select screen.
I select Realms Beyond and enter the password.
Game transfers data to disk
Game crashes. it goes too fast to read any errors that popped up (there may be one).

if i try a direct ip connection (without loading mod first), get a runtime exception (C++) error and game crashes before leader screen.
