[spoilers]Commodore is Tokugawa of Zulu, or, playing for second place.

The Battle of Yellow Creek still rages. I think I have it next turn, the question is how horrific the cost will be. Once 'Ware Jabberwock (formerly Xenia) gets its protective walls whipped in next turn I'll be feeling considerably safer about my back line.

With pillage gold, I ought to be able to drop Civil Service to three more turns, then Machinery is six turns after. Aggressive maces will do wonders for me in this fight...they get solid odds on literally anything he can throw at me. Also incoming, in seven turns, a Great Spy. Alphabet and several whipped spies should then see me able to grab Meditation (AP monestaries), Polytheism, Monotheism, and Monarchy. Then it's a triple revolt to OR/HR/Bureaucracy. That's almost average tech right there.

Cost: Rather horrific.

Totally worth it if I can take Mingo Junction before those longbows come online. Then we'll be waiting for the maces/elephant next wave. Also, Yuri is fighting Pingo.

Now let's just pray Cyneheard doesn't assault in the north...

So! Finally met Mr. Clear #2, who Krill is now at war with it seems. It terms of sheer mass they're about equal, unfortunately Ceil has been playing less and less while Nakor plays more and more, so I think the aggressive Krill will whip them.

No matter. Our own continent first. Need to wait until after a resolution to try and blitz away the lower Spice Holdings that Pingo have here. Maces ought to sort them without too much issue, actually doing at least decently against even Oromos.

Bleh. First, we have to clear out the boys in grey.

Thanks Xenu! I'm pretty sure they really do. I just cut off whales with the nerfed blockade, and my WW is getting high so they've got to be feeling the crunch too. (Note to self/Gaspar: Hook whales once Claws Catch pops third-ring). Really right now it's a question of how quickly and efficiently I can wipe out Cyneheard, if I can consolidate his lands as well things might start looking up (non-Krill division).

So here's a general planning post; not much new has occurred to report. The plan is pretty simple:

We've finally reached the point where the momentum of having a larger empire will be enough to crush Cyneheard, barring intervention or bad luck. Once Mingo Junction is taken and its borders pop Cyneheard will find himself cut off completely from the outside world.

Here's the core of Byzantium. Lafayette is the key, it's massive borders and hill location dominate the area, and it guards that blasted copper. Once we burn it, we've broken Cyneheard.

Mingo is our next victim, though. Two catapults, tons of WE, HAs, and impi. Rawr.

Oh, we also will suck his entire tech pool dry.

Small question: why do you have a lakeside tundra farm? Isn't that only worth 2f and no c or h and because of maintainence actually be worse than worthless, besides th worker turns?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

That's an interesting answer! See how I figured it out earlier. Upshot: Whips, particularly granary-fed two-pop whips, are really, really strong. Thing is I keep on upping my happy cap so I've yet to need it.
